By coincidence, one of tonight's episodes on Challenge was the 'fashion spree' star prize. The little bloke looked even more bemused than on the youtube clip.

The episode after it was the one with the woman who told the story about breaking her wrist punching a man on a bus The conclusion to the story was that when she went to the hospital, the bloke she punched was supposedly in front of her in the queue.

I was working for Central - during the early 90s - though had no connection with any studio produced output (different union and all that). Though, following a film shoot, trucks etc would often be returned to the Nottingham studio on Lenton Lane (now a campus, part of Nottingham University) - though a bit of the TV infrastructure does still remain. So we used to go into the studios and wander around (rude not to!!)
Once I find a way to post photos, I have plenty of photos then & now of the studios and some of the Bullseye set.
However - during that time, Family Fortunes, Blockbusters, Celebrity Squares (when it returned) and Bullseye were in production in Nottingham. Around 1994 - after TVS went off air, Catchphrase turned up at Nottingham for a short while too.
There was this sense at Central that Bullseye was a "Birmingham" show. As it started it's life in 1981 at the (then) studios of "ATV" in Birmingham - to fill the schedules for the autumn of that same year. Come 1982 - and the rebranding of ATV to become Central (more union controversy - still rumbles on with older faces today) - a second series was commissioned.
Bullseye remained at Birmingham until around 1989 - and it was then moved over to Nottingham - as Carlton TV moved most of it major productions over to Nottingham - while it wound down the Birmingham operation (which closed in 1997).
Jim Bowen et al were not happy about the move - and it was felt that something was lost - and the studio in Notts was awkward to get to, being located on an out of town industrial estate - as opposed to Birmingham, that was located in the City Centre - with close links.
You can spot which episodes are made where - the audience seating is Orange for those made in Birmingham, and Blue for those in Nottingham.
After Bullseye was cancelled, Blockbusters cancelled, Celeb Squares finished a year or two before, Family Fortunes was "rested", leaving Nottingham virtually empty (apart from a few bits for CITV) and the relocated Film & Tape libary from Birmingham - until Carlton invested millions bringing back Crossroads in 2001.
