My parents bought one just before I started school. My mom has told me the story of how it broke down on the way home from the garage where they had bought it and they had to have their old car (which they had part ex'd) back for a couple of days whilst the problem was sorted! The Austin was 5 years old apparently! Steed Such a 70s story. Reliability was questionable back then. Yep, and the answer was usually they weren't!

You either got a good one or a bad one. Dad's 1100 was really reliable, as was my A40, but some others of the era gave endless trouble.

I spotted a three cylinder, two stroke Saab salon recently. Apparently only 20 in the U.K., I’ll post pics when I can work out how to 😁

When I was a lad my mate's father had one of those that he managed to convert to run on paraffin.
It ran like a pig and smoked more than Dot Cotton.

On Friday, in Stockport, I saw my favourite of all the Consul/Zephyr/Zodiacs, a mark 2 Zodiac convertible. It was pale lemon and white and was in superb condition.

First one that hasn’t been moving for quite sometime! I’ve seen some cracking cars about but always moving and much too fast for me to get an image.

Looks a nice clean Fiesta, but what on earth have they done with the ridiculous wheels.
Gene.

Good spot, thanks for posting Bolly. Yes that is tidy for its age but those wheels are just so wrong. Wider than standard is okay but that has far too much offset. I wouldn't mind betting there's tyre contact on bumpy roads or bends. Sam.
