PEN15 used to be owned by Steve Parrish (Barry Sheene's team-mate when they rode for Suzuki), he also owned another similar plate based on the same appendage but the actual registration has slipped my mind for now. Sam. Wasn't it 6OCK? That was it! I went to a talk he gave a Brooklands a couple of years ago, brilliantly funny. Sam.

There's an excellent segment on Barry Sheene on the BBC prog I Love 1975.
Very much captured the essence of the 70s.
The horrific crash at Daytona was part of a documentary.
He didn't want paying; just delighted to publicise motorbike racing.
Apols if this is slightly off thread.

Well only 50% off topic, 2 wheels instead of 4!
Barry Sheene just looks 1970s without doing anything!

I pulled up behind a Lamborghini Aventador at the petrol station. Being a V12 I guess he needed a lot of petrol ! I had a little chat to the driver as I don't like to take a pic without the owner's knowledge (unless it is at a car show). He has owned this car only a few months. He was interested to know how long I had owned the Cortina.

A couple of spots this week on my manor - a large wafty and very charismatic looking metallic silver blue 1965 Buick Riviera in town on Monday and a metallic maroon 1970 Reliant Scimitar this morning, both being very welcome sights on the road. I have a feeling the Buick was also in the general car parking area at Stoneleigh last weekend when I was there for the annual yank tank & hot rod show. On the way there I was overtaken on the A45 by a gorgeous dark blue Mustang Mach 1, I had a chat with the owner when I got there, he'd driven up from South Wales and it didn't miss a beat. I asked him how big his garage was (all in the name of research of course...) and he said it was a standard size and the car fits in ok. Got lots of car shows and meets pencilled in for this year so hopefully will spot some choice machinery over the Summer, quite a few American shows amongst them too, for a 'change of scenery', I still love the Minis but after thirty years of owning them I fancy something different.
