A bit like you & Sam... Gene. We did our best. You and Ray in particular needed a bit of work. Still not convinced we got very far! Bloody hell Guv. Not another bird You'll find this place friendlier than what Fenchurch East was when you arrived dressed like a tart. (Welcome to 43 DI Drake. Great to have you with us ) Raymondo

Quite partial to this Joy Division cover from Moby that featured in Heat. Here's a live version Moby did vocals with New Order too.

I was only talking about this at work the other day. I too much prefer the covers of Dylan songs to his versions. All along the Watchtower is not the same without Hendrix soloing. Gene. I have to agree with you there Guv. I am not particularly a fan of Bob Dylan but there have been a couple of covers of his songs that are ok Steed

Don’t worry - I work in an office full of men in both lives so I’m more than capable of holding my own in this environment! And am consequently well versed in (to quote your good self) ... football, women, crisps ... any kind of pub talk! Alex

Another cover version that I prefer to the original was on the radio the other day; the song being "A New England" by Kirsty MaColl. It was originally written and recorded by Billy Bragg and released in 1983. I find Billy Bragg quite depressing and don't really enjoy listening to him but Kirsty MaColl's cover was quite decent I think!

I didn't know he was the writer of that track. Love the PP Arnold version Cheers Davy.

Good shouts on P P Arnold and Kirsty McColl. I didn't know that P P 's version was a cover, I just associate the great song with her. Kirsty McColl was a great singer, sadly missed.

Another cover version that I much prefer to the original song is David Watts by The Jam which appeared on their 1978 album All Mod Cons. The song was originally written by Ray Davies and appeared on 1967 album Something Else by The Kinks. I do like The Kinks as a band and enjoy listening to a lot of their songs but just happen to think that the Jam's version of David Watts is the better version!
