It's down to personal choice at the end of the day. I must say, the 1 star negative comments on Amazon of the Blu Ray release are off putting. Some mention that the dubbed sections are even derided in the audio commentary by Hodges. One says it ruined the film for him (though I think that's a bit OTT)
If you do try your luck and go for the Blu Ray release, then Amazon are usually quite good with returns in my opinion and will possibly exchange it if you are not happy. At £7.99, it's no big deal.
EDIT: I see you've gone for the Blu Ray. Good luck. Hopefully it will be the corrected version.
Gene.

I think fans of GC naturally expected the blu ray to get the full treatment- restoration, new extras, etc., instead they got the US dub version, unrestored & with nothing new from the dvd. It just looked like no care was taken & fans felt shortchanged, hence the many 1 star reviews. It's usually the independent companies who put the effort into their releases ( new restorations, nice packaging, proper extras ) with major companies like Warner just knocking out titles on blu ray without any thought for the film's fanbase.

I agree Arthur . There are some truly shocking DVD / Blu Ray's out there so obviously done for a fast buck.

Couldn't agree more Tiger. It's laziness and a desire to make a quick buck. If ever a film deserved "the works" it is Get Carter. Much less deserving titles have had it.

A 'full Monty' DVD / Blu-Ray of the film would be a real treat, particularly so if any of the thirty three deleted scenes are included in the package. If this did happen I think it would be a good idea if the current (ie: 1971) edit of the film is doubled up with another version including some or all of the unused sequences. The trouble with this is it can often upset the flow of a film which has become so familiar to fans like us who pretty much know it so well. It's one of those films which you can replay in your head from start to finish, dialogue soundtrack and all...! Thinking about it logically, I think it's a fair assumption that Roy Budd must have provided more material for at least some of these deleted scene's score, in fact on the two different versions of the soundtrack CD that have been available there are several tracks which you don't actually hear on the film soundtrack itself.
