Thanks Villain for posting the first batch of images from Get Carter. It was noted in the press of the time that Get Carter was very gritty and quite bleak in style; and a big change from a lot of the 1960's films which showed life through Rose Tinted Glasses. I personally think that it is one of the best films ever made and never tire of watching it.

Thanks for posting these Villain
Get Carter is an excellent film, I can't think how many times I must have watched that as well as another Caine film The Italian Job.
Ian Hendry was also a brilliant actor who was also in the first episode of The Sweeney if my memory serves me well.
Sam.

Cheers folks, here's the next lot... This well known publicity shot has often been mistaken for a 'screen shot' but the pump action shotgun Caine is holding was never seen in the film... The film was released in Britain in the second week of March 1971 and made the cover of that month's 'Film Review' magazine, note the old money / new decimal price, as the magazine itself would have bee nprinted in February... Author Ted Lewis on location in Newcastle, the film was based on his 1968 novel 'Jack's Return Home'... Ted Lewis again on location aboard the Wallsend ferry where the shoot out between Carter, Eric, Con and Peter takes place, all of these scenes were shot on Saturday 8th August 1970. If you enlarge the image you can see Michael Caine chatting with Ian Hendry in the background while Ted Lewis rewrites the dialogue for the scene that's about to be shot... Breanda takes Carter up to see Cliff Brumby at the tp of the famous car park... Carter on his way up to see Brumby again, just before throwing him off. If you look closely you can see that the Cortina is being driven by Caine's stand in as Caine didn't pass his driving test until 1983... Con (George Sewell) and Peter (Tony Beckley) arrive in Newcastle in the Mk2 Jag to take Carter back to London. Two different Jags were used in the film, this one has wire wheels and is seen arriving outside the B&B, in the later scene where the front passenger door is ripped off by Caine in the Cortina they used another Mk2 which had standard steel wheels with chromed hub caps, it's a 'blink and you'll miss' it thing but they are definitely two seperate cars. A nice touch is that as the two villains are from London, the Jag bears a London area reg' number (XLE 33G, 'LE' being one of several London markers in use in the '60s and '70s)... Peter waiting outside the B&B with the second Jag, the door is about to be ripped off and note the steel wheels with hub caps... A period shot of the car park in Gateshead, found on the 'net a while back... More pics to come later.

Nice to see Michael and Ian getting on well together in these photos. ( The ones where they're not actually filming that is.) I will definately be watching this film again in the next few days. I was really surprised to hear that Michael didn't pass his driving test till '83
