It was a big pity that the original two fell out, or whatever happened.
I prefer Edd to Ant and wish it UK based as well.

It is not just the two of them though is it?
Edd often bought in "My mate Paul" Brackley who appeared to be an assistant mechanic to Edd and as a 'gopher' to collect the knackered motors that Mike bought but was actually a technical advisor for the series. He's no longer involved in the recent series and can be seen in credits for other motoring programmes. I'm sure I've seen his name in the credits for Car S.O.S. too.
Sam.

Yes a mate of mine knows Paul Cowland well (Salvage Hunters) and he's involved in that, as well as Vintage Voltage on MotorTrend (worth a watch if you haven't seen it). I've met both And and Mike Brewer a few times - I cringe quite a bit at the latest series it's far too Americanised and commercialised but still think it's good TV! Mike's down to earth, he get some bad press for what the production company want to do on the show IMHO - he's put some pies away though, needs to drop some timber!

It's the first car show I saw that really got down to the nuts and bolts of how to fix things and did it pretty well. It's still doing that so all credit to it.

Just recently watched a old episode with Ed and Mike! worth a watch! Wow! Must say probably my favourite episode to date, It featured a Renault Alpine 310, and Just what a awesome looking car it was which is more limited than limited.. The colour was amazing, kinda a like a silvery grey aluminium colour, or though I am slightly colour blind literally. After looking at it from the side, in conjunction with the style and colour of the wheels, it reminded me of a Delorean. Being part fibreglass to, it was just absolutely mint and rust free for the age, beit 1977. It was such a relief to get to the end of the episode without Mike changing the original colour to a different one. Could definitely see me and Candy Girl uptown in this lol!

After near enough giving up on the latest series of Wheeler Dealers I've now found what could potentially be good news: Wheeler Dealers series 17 will be a return to the UK with Ant Anstead replaced by a former McLaren mechanic Marc Priestley. Read more >>> HERE <<<Ant has decided to stay in the US after starting a new family over there although he will be 'popping in' from time to time (which I'm sure his old family will really look forward to!). If that's the case I just hope that he stops behaving like a twat, moderates his over-rehearsed over exuberance and allows the new bloke to make a name for himself! Having watched one of my favourite old episodes on Saturday (Edd China + BMW840) I just wished the series could have continued as was since Edd presented far better than Mike or Ant. Sam.

I've been a fan of Wheeler Dealers pretty much since it started and have stayed with the programme throughout its changes, or evolution as Mike Brewer would describe it.
Edd China was superb, obviously, but the criticism Ant Antstead has received has been way over the top. He's a very good TV presenter and clearly a highly skilled mechanic and fabricator. His only crime so far as I can see was replacing Edd. I'm assuming here we all liked him on For The Love of Cars with Gene Hunt.
The only issue I've hd with the American series is the daft little "acting" pieces in the last few episodes. And the fact that they never did a Ford Gran Torino.
I'm pleased the series is continuing and I'm sure Elvis will be just as good as Ant and Edd.
People who watch it to complain there's no Edd are like those who watch Top Gear just to moan on Twitter that it's not the same without Clarkson Hammond and May.
I can highly recommend Salvage Hunters; Classic Cars on Quest if you want a car programme without any baggage.

Dickie I take your point about watching just to moan and that's why I don't watch TG anymore, the new presenters aren't for me. WD I do catch from time to time, Brewer is always a bit over the top but compensates with some good observations in between. I was hoping Edd would pop up on his own show. Interested to see what the new engineer is like.

Mike is now returning to the UK - and Ant is staying in the states, he has a young child over there after a failed marriage to another TV celeb.
The show is now returning to the UK this time with Marc Priestley, nicknamed Elvis - he had previously done a show with Elvis called 'Trading up'.
Lets hope some of the corny production is lost when the UK team get back involved with it.

I can't make my mind up about Mike Brewer. I reckon he was a Thatcherite in the 1980s and still votes that way. He does occasionally patronise the opposite sex from who he's either buying a car from or selling to. Just stops short of patting their behinds at times! But...I'm still watching his show. I enjoy his visits to the men in sheds who refurbish Kugelfischer fuel injection pumps and the like. I've also learned a fair bit about the unusual cars he's picked; Saab 9-3 Viggen, MX5 Mazdaspeed, Renault Alpine, Opel GT, Datsun 510, Volvo 850 T-5R etc
