I'm really looking forward to it now. I watched The Great Race last night, quality episode. BTW its 63.2 miles from Newcastle to Berwick via the A1. Terry and Bob were never going to make it Felton where they ended up is 26.3 miles . Watched this last night too although I think they made it as far as Fenwick which is only about 7 miles short of Berwick and about 3 miles south of where I was born & raised. There is no train station at Fenwick, the mainline goes from Berwick direct to Newcastle, no stops in between. They would have had to go through Belford to get there though, the A1 used to go through it but was bypassed in 1983, some 10 years after Clement & La Frenais referenced it. Despite all of this, I still love this episode and the series.....and the Christmas Special.......and the film........ and can not wait to see the Robin Hood and the Elm Lodge housing estate, wonder if the neighbour from number 39 needs her tap sorting?

Ahh Fenwick that was it. I was looking at the map and thinking Feltons the one. Also no station there either. For the price of a couple of pints of ale you can get a long way on an old Bedford

Sorry to dampen the spirits lads but unfortunately I've had to pull out of attending this weekend due to a bereavement in the family. I have let Gene, The Saint, and Del know last weekend but thought I'd let the remainder of the squad know ahead of this weekend. Obviously I'm gutted at missing the meet as I've not missed one since the first meet I attended many years ago but we're at the busy and intense stage between the bereavement and the funeral in which the legalities have to be started and when my family need my support most. I'll certainly be envious of everyone meeting back up again in Newcastle and will be in touch with Gene over the weekend so I will give everyone my best wishes for what will be yet another fantastic meet, I hope you all have a good time and safe journeys to all. Sam.

You'll be missed Sam but family comes first at a time like this. You can make up for lost time at the next meet

You will be missed is an understatement Sam. I've been in touch with you throughout the family member illness and subsequent passing so now I'd like to offer on behalf of myself and all forum members, our deepest sympathy at this time and assure you our thoughts are with you.
I'll be the first to raise a glass to you & yours on Saturday lunch time and I know the lads will be eager to join me.
All the best mate and see you soon.
Gene.
