The Silent Scream is my favourite, I remember watching that when it was first shown. Similarly, I remember watching The House That Bled to Death. Very entertaining and not too horrifying, more like a scarier version of Tales Of The Unexpected.
Spotted a tv listing for Perfect Friday although Susan of Oxon is non plussed.

Silent Scream is superb. Peter Cushing at his best. If anyone hasn't got the HHoH box set, I thoroughly recommend it. Gene.

I agree The Silent Scream is one of the strongest episodes. The Two Faces Of Evil is perhaps the most disturbing story, the idea of a doppelganger replacing a loved one, I also like the fact that it's written by Ranald Graham, one of The Sweeney regulars. The Mark Of Satan is an unusual one, great performance by Peter McEnery, an excellent, believable actor with surprisingly few credits.

The one I remember seeing as a child was one that has been mentioned, The House that Bled to death. I was watching TV with my Dad one night and he had fallen asleep in the chair and this Hammer House of Horror film started. I remember watching it and being terrified but I remember wanting to see it to the end and kept checking that my Dad hadn't woken up ! I know what he would have said if he had ! I'm not sure how I old I would have been but I'll guess around 6 or 7.
I caught a bit of it a few years back and thought how cheesy it was and not frightening at all.
Am I right in thinking Rachel Davies is in that one ?

I'm looking forward to the forthcoming Blu-ray release of this series in October, as I don't have the DVDs and haven't seen these for many years. Two Faces of Evil is the one episode I and many people seem to remember most, particularly the hitchhiker in the yellow raincoat.

Am I right in thinking Rachel Davies is in that one ? Yes she is & the girl playing her daughter, Emma Ridley, later became notorious for her lifestyle, dubbed a 'wild child' by the tabloids. Pat Maynard who was married to Dennis Waterman at the time plays their neighbour. Directed by Tom Clegg there are a few other Sweeney connections- in it are George Tovey & Max Mason who appeared together in 'Loving Arms', Jo Warne from 'Jack Or Knave' & Marilyn Finlay from 'Sweeney 2'. What I like about this episode is its nice suburban location & familiar faces like Brian Croucher & one of my favourites Milton Johns.

Yes the figure in yellow is often mentioned by people struggling to remember things they saw on tv as a child. I did have the dvd set but sold it when the blu ray was announced, I expect it will look particularly good in HD, the tv & dvd versions always looked in very good shape. A few extras have been added to the Network listing- SPECIAL FEATURES [] Guardian of the Abyss – Widescreen Version [] Commercial Break Stings [] Rude Awakening Opening Montage Raw Takes [] Image Gallery [] PDF Material As well as a limited edition card sleeve.

This is what's missing from tv today, regional tv announcers putting on a telephone voice & whetting the old appetite-
