Loads of great memories there in those commercials. The Heineken "Majorca" ad was particularly good Steed

I used to love the mammoth Christmas adverts by Woolworths that had "stars" from the era in them. Also though not adverts as such, the public information films were great too, how else would you know not to park in a layby or drop litter?

Is this where we can talk about them? I have a big passion for them, but only up to about 95 time, they got crap after that. Have you any particular faves, ones you remember because they were odd or frightening? I still have a particular fascination for this one, it was the sand and the snake that did it, even though I am terrified of snakes!

It's amazing how many of these advert campaigns actually ran for years on end, without any change. I was amazed at how old some of the adverts were. These days, the campaigns and ad runs seem short lived.
The "Turkish Delight" one seemed like it was on TV forever.

This ran for just over 10 years from 1980.
And I think they did a refreshed version of it in 2010 for the '30th anniversary'.
How many adverts have celebrated a 30th anniversary?

The Cadbury’s Flake adverts became classics, this one is from 1983.

The Cadbury’s Flake adverts became classics, this one is from 1983. The Saint If I remember there was a series of these adverts, and they would rotate when they were broadcast. So they would show them for a few months, then they would vanish - only to appear a year or so later.
Again - another example of a big budget and & well crafted Ad Campaign.

I found a couple of good ones recently.
Sweeney Face who Plays Fat Eric is in this one again from 1980 (there are more on that real to see)
C&A from 1980 Ray Brooks narrates. The slogans in it makes me laugh.

Imagine showing those "Corona" adverts on TV during these times....
Boris could do a voice over.
Then you'd have Next Slide Whitty with his graph explaining that there's been a rise in purchasing Lemonade in the Salford area. Then would come the European Variant of Cherry Aid.... (cheap naff stuff)
And to end it'd be "With a heavy hand on heart, we have had to introduce restrictions on the sale of Dandelion and Burdock"
And the tag line "Wash your hands, stop at home and fizz, fizz, fizz..."
