Very good those Vi. I too enjoyed them being a fan of the Thriller series. Well done in tracking the locations down.

I know this is a long shot, but I have a vague recollection of an early Thriller episode with a storyline of a killer persuing a woman hiding out in a big office block during the night. She manages to find a phone and calls the police without realising the calls go to the office block switchboard and the killer answers as the police operator. "We'll be right with you, love. But you'll need to tell us where in the block you are hiding so we can find you and get you to safety..."
Does it ring any bells with anyone ?

Nightfly, the particular episode you mention is 'I'm the Girl He Wants to Kill' from Series 3 (1974). Tony Selby appeared in this as the detective who helps to rescue the woman (also his girlfriend) from a serial killer. One of the best Thriller episodes.

Not only was I beginning to doubt it was a Thriller episode, I was starting to think I'd imagined the whole thing :) Looks like it's on Youtube as well so that's this evening's viewing sorted ! Thanks very much !

I watched it again last year on YouTube. I forget who played the baddie in this one. I have the complete DVD series but the wife and I watched quite a lot of the episodes last year on YouTube. Charles, you are actually talking about another episode there from 1976 called 'The Next Victim.' The story is very similar and stars Carroll Baker, who plays a woman trapped in her flat during a heatwave. Julie Sommars was the woman in 'I'm the Girl He Wants to Kill.'
