As I have been going through the Network box set of the series over recent weeks, I thought it was time to start a thread...
This was an ATV anthology series that ran for six series over four years in the mid 1970s. Created and mostly scripted by Brian Clemens, each episode had its own story and cast. Many of the stories in each episode dealt with themes ranging from the supernatural to murder mysteries and suspense. Many well-known TV and film actors from the time often appeared too, such as Dennis Waterman, Robert Powell, Peter Jeffrey, Judy Geeson, Susan Hampshire etc. From Series 2 onwards an American actor/actress was often used to appeal to the US market.
Two of the best episodes, IMO, were 'Ring Once for Death' and 'A Coffin for the Bride', both starring Michael Jayston - the second one was Brian Clemens favourite, which told the story of a man who married several women for their money, then murdered them. A young Helen Mirren also starred in this one. The episodes are a mixed bag really, but many are quite enjoyable and good to watch.

Helen looks really dishy in this one. I will have watch this series all over again, it was pretty good. I bought it from Amazon quite a few years back.
Michael Jayston is a pretty good actor. I remember writing a letter to him many, many years ago complementing him on a performance. He wrote back enclosing a signed photo.
Charles.

I first saw Thriller on UKGold ( or it could've been Granda Plus ) in the 90s, later I got the Network set which I no longer have. I'll be honest & say I think the scripts can be painfully bad, the reason I'm not a big fan of The Professionals & other Brian Clemens series is always down to his writing style, Clemens was more of an ideas & marketing person imo than a good writer. I'd certainly watch it if it was shown on ITV4 but for the period atmosphere, actors, etc., not the implausible stories.

Many of the locations used in this series were filmed around London and Hertfordshire, not too far from ATV's production hub at Elstree Studios. These are some London locations from the various episodes airing from 1973 until spring 1976. 'Someone at the Top of the Stairs' (1973) - Two American girls rent a room at a dark, old house and have terrifying experiences... Lyndhurst Terrace, Hampstead THEN NOW 'Spell of Evil' (1973) - A businessman meets a mysterious lady through a marriage bureau. She appears to be a witch and he becomes ill at his home... Oakleigh Park South, Oakleigh Park THEN NOW 'Ring Once for Death' (1974) - A wealthy lady moves back to England after the death of her husband. She hires a butler at her luxury home who has plans to kill her... Howley Place, Little Venice THEN NOW 'Sign it Death' (1974) - A businessman's secretary is murdered at her home by another woman obsessed with him... Cartwright Gardens, Bloomsbury THEN NOW Vi

Thanks lads, much appreciated These next ones are from one of my favourite episodes called 'I'm the Girl He Wants to Kill' (1974) Ann Rogers notices a stranger leaving the building when she returns home to her flat one night. She quickly finds her neighbour lying dead on the floor, another victim of a serial killer. Later she spots the same man in a jewellers shop and runs back to her place of work. He finds out where she is and tries to silence her... His first victim is a young girl who returns home after a day out with friends and is stabbed to death on her doorstep... Pemberton Gardens, Archway THEN NOW The Jewellers where she identifies the killer in the shop window... Crouch End Hill, Crouch End THEN NOW Ann Rogers works at the Parker Industries building, where the killer tries to murder her one night when working late Vorley Road/MacDonald Road, Archway THEN NOW She eventually manages to escape and get home, with the help of the police... Dartmouth Park Road, Kentish Town THEN NOW Vi
