Anyone watch any of it over the weekend? I caught a few bits, Katy Perry I thought was good, amongst current artists, but the two performances I liked were Barry Gibb and Chic. During Barry Gibb's set the security guys and girls were doing the Saturday Night Fever dance moves in front of the audience and it was great to watch. In both Barry and Chic's setts, I noticed a lot of people in the crowd who were pretty young, probably in their 20s, who would be way too young to remember the 70s, really getting into the music and enjoying it.

I watched two bits, first of all Liam Gallagher who I think had a great set. I watched Foo Fighters too who are a band worthy of headlining, that is a dig at Ed Sheeran who I just don't get but then again I'm old and am probably not supposed to which suits me fine

The same two stand out performances for me too Cartman. Barry's voice isn't what it used to be but it was still a good performance. A tough one too without his brothers. Chic were superb. Nile Rodgers was the superb frontman. A genuinely touching announcement that he'd been diagnosed with the dreaded bug 6 years ago and told by his Doctor to get his affairs in order only to be recently given the all clear. A class act. I watched two bits, first of all Liam Gallagher who I think had a great set. Gene.

I didn't even realise it was that time of the year until I was flicking through the channels & saw coverage of it!

I didn't see any of the sets, but I will certainly have a look at a few of them on catch up. Barry Gibb for a start.
As for Ed Sheeran? I've heard the name lately, but I haven't a clue who he is or what he does I'm afraid a lot of stuff just goes right over my head these days.
Charles.

Ed "Interesting" Sheeran. Music's answer to Steve Davis. A week or two back he released virtually every track of a new album as a single and almost the whole top 20 was his stuff. It all sounds very much the same too. He did one that wasn't bad, Sing, which was a collaboration with Pharrell Williams.
You are NOT missing anything if you've never heard of him!

I read an interview with him & he said he checks how many 'units' he's sold each day, this doesn't really square with the image he's cultivated of a busking 'boy next door'. What possible reason could there be for releasing every album track as a single other than to empty his young fan's pockets? Off topic but Steve Davis is in fact a huge music fan with 'interesting' taste- www.theguardian.com/sport/2004/mar/07/snooker.features

Not a massive fan (as such) of Heavy Rock but did like that Foo Fighters set and man they owned the crowd that evening. As for Ed Sheeran he's ginger and apparently smokes 'hand rolled cigarettes' (joints)... nuff said.

You are NOT missing anything if you've never heard of him! Yeah the charts have pretty much been effed up since downloads came into the equation. Also the rule should be 'sales' of these downloads just like they were phyiscial sales rather than streams as if loads of people are streaming say Ed Sheeran etc. what's that going to do to the chart.
