Came across this article on the BBC website about Leftfield's 1995 album Leftism. www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-39870759Whether you like 'dance' music or not 'Leftism' did along with other albums by similar acts in that scene did do something (in my opinion) new/different to the dance sound in the mid-90's. Also proves the lie that the mid-90's unlike the now nostalgic myth wasn't all Blur/Oasis etc. Britpop either and other interesting things and scene's were around at that time too nor too was all dance music rubbish Eurotrash either - although being honest some of it was! Yes I'm biased as I like Leftfield and the type of music they make and sort of glad to have been interested in what they have done since the 90's. Shame this kind of music still isn't progressing and doesn't seem to be held in as high esteem by the music industry as say generic pop, (diluted) EDM, urban, grime, R&B etc. which seems to be the only things the music industry cares about these days (the money) but suppose times change and all that but none of the current scene has even a small bit of the energy and excitement Leftism has IMHO. Just thought it would be a interesting article to post here and also seeing them this week too.
