In fact I had two different altercations with dogs that day, on both occasions the dog was off its lead & the owner looked rough.
The park is in Blackpool though where, statistically speaking, like rats you're only 6 foot away from a dodgy character at any given time

I hate Alsations. I was badly bitten by one as a teenager and was hospitalised over it. Many years later I was attacked by one again while walking to work. Reflex action was to punch the damn thing as it sank its teeth in to my leg. It didn't do the dog a lot of good and the owner was soon on the scene to have a pop at me for hitting his dog. He too buggered off sharpish when I offered him the same treatment as the dog had just had. I don't find all large dogs to be the same though. A lot of issues are in the particular breed - some of which I don't think should be kept as pets, but a lot more of the issues with dogs is the lack of training that their owners have invested in them. Gene. Bloody hell! In some circumstances plain old aggression is the only effective answer. Nicely threatened.

Most are house-trained though, one or two need to be mucked out each morning, but generally they'll all take care of you. Sam

Never really been a big Alsatian fan myself unless you have the hard as nail ones on the roof of some dodgy 1950's-70's style pub in a bandit country area somewhere!
There used to be one where my Mum/Dad live nervous as hell and always had the feeling this one could snap at an instant, even our dog (Boxer) used to have the measure of it too!
The 'status dog' Gangsta types are pathetic and do no good to the dogs concerned IMO nor the breeds and responsible owners who train them correctly and make sure they're decent dogs/pets.
I mean who'd honestly want something like this?
Generally you can never completely trust a dog whether it's a tiny yapper or a Rottweiler they can turn at a instant when their natural instincts kick in. However trained right and taken care of right they can be a good loyal friend to have on your side.

That dog was called Wendy, a whippet with a gene mutation that caused her muscles to grow abnormally, she died about 4 years ago.

It's been on since 2012 so maybe the quality has declined over the years but I watched most of an episode of 'Call The Midwife' & was amazed at how bad it was, it's as if they're writing it for a primary school audience, the acting is stilted beyond belief & there's an almost constant & loud soundtrack of horribly sentimental music. Surely earlier series must've been better as what I saw was just terrible for a primetime tv show.

I've never watched it at all, Arthur, so can't comment. Just one of those programmes I didn't fancy. Looks like I haven't missed anything.

I've just had to sit through Kong v Godzilla, courtesy of my son. All these type of films are is just noise and effects.
Also, why do the giant creatures always have to end up in somewhere like Hong Kong or New York, when they could just as easily turn up on some waste ground just off the East Lancs road?
