Watching this crappy super league unravel, implode and fall apart last night in real time was brilliant. It lasted all of 2 days! It has been entertaining. I loved the fact that the key members of all this remained stubborn and arrogant - as one by one clubs pulled out.
Though, I hope this has been a wake up call for football on the whole - as something needs to be in place to prevent this happening again.
I don't generally follow football - though I seem to remember about 20 or so years ago when there was huge outcry about all these outside investors buying in to the football gravy train - and the FA introduced strict (so they said) rules concerning ownership of clubs and other interests? It appears there was either loop holes, not enough regulation or even palms being crossed with silver (not that there would be any back handers would they....honest.)
Boris (much in need of good headlines) has proposed drawing up laws and moving mountains to let fans have more say. Funny- some of the clubs involved in this new (old) super league were partly owned by Fans.
The sale of TV rights was another issue - and then letting TV companies dictate the football fixtures and times.
I think - they should stuff off Sky, broadcast the football on the mainstream channels we have, and use Boris £2million defunct (new) studio at 9 Downing St as a Pundits studio. Either that, or they could stick countdown in there....
After all they have the Muppet Show already in Numbers 10 and 11 as it is.

I think if they had gradually introduced it over a longer period of time it would probably have been widely accepted if you consider how fans have come to accept obscene player wages, the abundance of imported players/managers, ownership of clubs by oligarchs & sheiks & the whole corporate nature of Premiership football. Introduce almost anything gradually & people absorb it.

They leak a lot of the really controversial stuff to the newspapers to make a meal of, to test the water - if there is a huge outcry and reaction, some MP will pop up on the news telling everyone "It was reported out of context" and "There are no current plans...." and all that tripe.

An old political trick. If you want to introduce something controversial, float something even more outrageous, then withdraw it and out forward the original proposal, which is then sold as a compromise which might get accepted.
She's been mentioned on here before, but Greta bloody Thunberg. There's something just not right about this whole cult of personality which has sprung up surrounding her, she's obviously a puppet being used as a front by people behind the scenes, otherwise how would a kid attract so much attention?
These green extremists are fixated on one issue, if they were allowed to they would destroy the whole economy and out millions out of work, every time one is interviewed they just go on about climate change, irrespective of what the subject is. They remind me of something out of Nazi Germany or North Korea.

What's the Carbon Footprint of all the hot air & gas put out by these Green Extremists constantly sprouting their bit?

Addition to Room 101:
Those self appointed Peadophile Vigilante Groups who seem to be making waves via Youtube.
The local news this lunchtime showed a story about a Group of Peado Hunters who pounced on a Bus Driver waiting at Sheffield Interchange.
The Driver was the wrong person - but ended up getting arrested based on the "evidence" these nut jobs had. Obviously, the case got thrown out - but with that kind of thing, Mud sticks.
The Bus Driver was suspended from work, he ended up leaving his job and moving away. The Peado Group got told "Not to do it again" and pretty much let off - the group still maintain that they are doing society a good job by protecting children and they are assisting the Police.
The way these guys approached the Bus Driver was outragous - they surrounded him, mobile phones recording every angle. The "leader" of these incompetent ba***rds then thrust a wad of A4 print outs of "alleged" chat logs - with no proof that the person he was talking to was the actual culprit. And then it was allegation after allegation.
One of the group threatened to "Deck the sicko" if he tried to get away.... I noticed in the clip that the "group" were all bearing branded clothing - and with it being youtube, it's all about the clicks & views.
Why can't these people just leave it to the police - and find themselves a job.

I usually follow politics and current affairs pretty closely, but I must be in the minority as I know virtually nothing about Greta Thunberg. She speaks out on climate change, that I know, but my brain seems to automatically tune out and wander off as soon as she appears on the news. She may be right or wrong, but anything said seems to stay in my head for literally seconds. I suppose we should do our bit for the environment, however maybe the world is moving faster than I can keep up with. The wife took her car in for a service yesterday and was given the loan of an electric courtesy car. As she parked the display pinged and showed her an unsolicited message scoring her 76% for her driving skill. When she took it back this morning it pinged again with 61%. What's that all about ? World's gorn mad ! ;)

Not sure what motivates these people, glory I suspect. If you're concerned about children there are thousands of charities you can donate to or raise money for. The US have at least one tv show, 'To Catch A Predator' I think it's called, that sets up people & confronts them on camera. By all means uncover these people by setting traps for them but don't make entertainment out of it. Another consideration is the effect on the perpetrator's family, I read about one man who killed himself as a result of being exposed, he left a wife & child without a husband & father.
This is not a black & white issue in any case with the age of consent much lower in other parts of the World, it's 12 in Canada ( with a partner no more than 2 years older ), surely these means the moral 'compass' of each country varies.
