I keep getting those accident ones. If you have had any sort of claim your own insurance firm sells the data to these annoying firms.
Insurance firms sell your dataIn 2011, My Brother and I witnessed a 24 carat Bell**d who decided that waiting at a junction wasn't enough for him, and so mounted the pavement ploughing into a Street Lamp and the side of someones car...
We both made witness statements to the Police - advising them that the driver was (in our opinion) a full scale t*at.
They left that bit off the statement.
And that was that. (So we thought).
About 6months later - we both started getting Ambulance chasers phoning us "about our accident".
What accident? We both asked - and were greeted with the same old speil about us being involved in an accident and that we could claim.
I was told that I could claim for "Whiplash" - it seemed they were happy to try and push us into committing Insurance Fraud.
Naturally, each phone call ended with being told to stop contacting us. (or words to that effect)
Fast forward to March 2014 - I was at the Wake following my Brothers Funeral - and I received another call about the same accident.
At the same time, they told me they were trying to contact my Brother.
I explained, the latter would be pretty awkward - as at that moment in time he was let's say otherwise engaged at the local Crematorium.
And it may be best that they seeked a pretty good priest if they wished to contact him.
It took the caller some time the clasp what I was getting at.
I formally asked them to remove all traces of My and my brothers data from their computers - as we had not been involved in any accident.
And if it continued I would report them to the Data Commissioner and Insurance Regulators (like they would do anything).
And that was that. (So I thought).
I heard nothing until 2019, when my Car insurance renewal came through; as it stood, I have 26 years No Claims.
For some obscure reason this had vanished from the renewal - and the premium adjusted accordingly (of course).
I queried it, and discovered it was supposed to have related to an accident that I had in 2011....
What accident?
After a bit or arguing - it transpired somehow this Accident that my brother and I were witness to, had crawled on to my insurance policy.
How and Why?
Surely - an Insurance Document is a Legal Document?
Must be, it's admissable as court evidence.
So - if they (insurance co) are sticking false information down; are they not committing a criminal offence?
It has been removed for 2020.
It begs this question...
The only people my brother I had dealings with, were the Police and that was that.
We didn't pass our details to anyone else.
So how did this Ambulance Chaser lot get our details? The Police?
