What a race today ! Vettel drove well it has to be said, and made the most of what was a huge mistake by Mercedes by bringing in Hamilton too early. It was a far more thrilling spectacle than the previous Australian GP. There was action throughout the field with some fantastic overtaking. Good to see that the field is closer than it was last year. I'm far, far from being a Vettel fan but I give him his due today. He pushed when necessary and didn't put a foot wrong. Hamilton once again showed when things aren't going to plan he gets a little agitated - shouting at his engineer for talking to him while pushing through the corners. Raikkonen also showing good form after more bad luck early on when picking up a puncture. A good solid race for him after that. While it is a case of this circuit and track temperature suiting the Ferrari, while tracks where it is more difficult to get heat into the tyres will see them suffer more, I think this season is shaping up to be a corker Gene.

Hamilton once again showed when things aren't going to plan he gets a little agitated - shouting at his engineer for talking to him while pushing through the corners. You can tell when Lewis is getting a "little agitated" on the team radio because he starts saying "man", for example, "This is the wrong tyres, man!" or, "Don't talk to me through the corners, man!" Congratulations to Ferrari for winning the Malaysia Grand Prix. Their car was quicker today, and they have worked really hard to get back on top Also, well done to Max Verstappen who, at the age of 17, became the youngest driver to score points in F1

Verstappen will most probably hold that title for eternity too as I believe they are changing the regulations to only grant a super licence to those who are 18+ years of age.

It was indeed a great race yesterday. The early safety car played a big part and Ferrari got their decision making spot on with that incident. Vettel got his tail up and really took the race to Mercedes and deserved his win. I was thoughrouly impressed by Verstappen who looks to have a great future ahead of him.

LOL! Really enjoyed this race too. Don't really like or dislike Vettel but glad he had a good race and gave the Merc's a few headaches as a bit like Ferrari 2001-04 they've been having it too easy the last few years. I bet Alonso's a very peed-off little bunny at it all coming good at the wrong time (for him) as Raikonnen too could've easily got a 1-2 for Ferrari had he not had the puncture as well. Forza Ferrari!

China is the next race on the calendar This race has been on the calendar since 2004 which surprised me as i thought it was more recent. One interesting quirk of Shanghai is that no driver has managed to win back-to-back races at the circuit. This maybe of interest; I found the Remix piece that BBC Five Live use for F1 adverts.

Anyone remember this theme music the BBC used for the grid lineup back in the 1980's :-
It's amazing from the edit how quick the race starts. All done by olivetti computer.

Good post Windy. I don't remember that music although i used to watch it at that time. What was interesting was the speed of those 3.5 litre cars!!! They seem to accelerate way quicker than todays versions.
