The first one that comes to mind is a large box of Hornby O gauge tin-plate track, engines, and rolling stock. The track had special joiners and included various sets of points, a large station, a passenger footbridge, water tower, and buffers. There was too much track for our lounge so it had to be laid through to the kitchen too. Many hours were spend putting the track together and repeatedly winding the trains up only to get two or three laps before they came to a stop again. Anyone else have this?
Lord B. How about this Lord Brett, recognise any of these?
Spot on Sam, that station at the beginning of the clip is exactly the same as the station I have, one of the engines is the same as I have, carriages are also identical to mine, and I also have some of the trucks as well as the guard's van. Thank you for posting that, made me fell quite nostalgic! I think I'll have to have a look for the Marx Motorway set too, I saw one on eBay a few months ago and was tempted to put in a bid but the cars looked past it sadly. Lord B.

Going back to my previous post, I have had a look on eBay but the only set on there was £70 and didn't have the same cars as mine.
But, a quick look on YouTube has found a video where someone has put two sets together and has the same cars as I had albeit a green one instead of the red:
It was one of these sets in the same box that I had as a kid one Christmas probably around '67 or '68. After clockwork cars the inevitable was to be a Scalextric set some years later.

Lego, dinky toys cars and buses, Triang and Hornby Dublo model trains. Talking of which, I kept all my old Triang and Hornby Dublo in a box when I had given over playing with it, and I've still got them all! I've put a board up in the loft and they still work. Told myself it was really for my son (became a dad for the first time, 8 years ago at the age of 47, old git aren't I) but it's really for me!!

I had one of those wind up Evil Knievels, they were useless. The tv ads made it look like you could make it do stunts, when it reality the bike invariably just trundled off the wind up base & quickly fell over.

I had an Evil Knievel and you're right they used to fail to do a lot most of the time. All that noise and anticipation whilst you wound it up on the base and then .... nappo What you needed was a long smooth surface to race it on like a corridor. Here in blighty not many kids had that kind of room to play.

I had a scalextric-type thing when I was a boy,I remember it was called 'Powertrack 3000',brilliant it was.The cars were great-it was like touring car racing. There was a Jag XJ12,and also a BMW,the small boxy-type beemers from the 70s.I don't know what happened to the set,but I remember endless fun playing that as a kid.I also remember a scalextric game called 'Race and Chase' which featured I think a police car and a normal car,and the clue is in the title.I always wanted that as a boy,but never got it.
Anybody remember those big springs that 'walked' down the stairs?I had one of them!It tended to get a little boring after about 10 goes.My brother also had Subbuteo,I do quite vividly remember playing that.I was always very puzzled that the ball was bigger than the players;I remember certain 'players' being re-stuck with glue (they tended to snap quite easily,be trodden on etc). Also the 'pitch' could pose a problem if it wasn't laid on a very flat surface. And what about the Jules Rimet trophy that came with the set?It was bloody massive compared to the players.

'Slinky' is the name of the spring thing. My brother had loads of Subbuteo teams in boxes. It has to be said that it's a pretty basic game & whilst I can understand collecting vintage floodlights, stands, etc., nudging a ball around a table with your finger never had much replay value for me.

I played a lot of board games when I was a kid; Monopoly, Mousetrap, Escape From Colditz, Microdot, Treaure of the Pharoahs to name but a few. I also liked the electronic games that started to come out such as Simon, Mini Munchman and Jimmy: However my favourite was of course toy cars. Matchbox, Dinky or cheap plastic ones. I could play all day with just a couple. Loved them and wish I'd kept them, especially as my son spends his money on picking them up at antique shops etc.
