This 3 litre Coupe would make a good basis for a 'Villain' replica as it already has the Rostyle wheels from a later V8, paint the roof Burnt Grey (dark grey with a hint of brown) and Bob's your uncle... www.ebay.co.uk/itm/222376822333?clk_rvr_id=1158686613642&rmvSB=trueIt wouldn't make the same noise as a V8 but would certainly look the part... there are a few of these 3 litre cars around which have had later P5B front wings grafted on to complete the illusion. Villain is a cracking film, which doesn't get the recognition it should do. Perhaps because when it came out, a lot of the critics wanted to knock Richard Burton at that time. I don't know for sure. I only saw it for the first time about five or six years ago, and found out what a good film it really is. I will have to give it another viewing in the near future. I must say Villain, you started off a really good thread with this one, and done it proud with all the images I would absolutely love to do a meet on this one, and I look forward to a future announcement whenever Gene is ready. Looking at reviews of Villain, all the film guides I've got talk about how 'nasty' the violence is. I remember listening to a dvd commentary with the director Pete Walker, Villain is mentioned in passing & he comments that Villain didn't do as well as it could because 'audiences weren't ready for a gay gangster'. Dakin was no doubt based partly on openly gay Ron Kray, as it turns out Reg was bisexual & it's come to light recently that the two of them may have been in an incestuous relationship. Blimey. Some of the foreign titles for Villain are amusing, the Greek titles translate as "The Corrupt" & "Skunk", the Turkish is "Punk", Italy is "The Rascal", Germany is "You Reap What You Sow" ( I think ), Portugal is "The Trickster", Slovenia is "Vic Dakin's Eternal Alibi", Sweden is "Hey Vic, How's Mum?" & France is simply "Bastard" They've got the wrong film though for Hungary, "Kaktusz Jack" is the Kirk Douglas/Arnie Schwarzenegger western 'Cactus Jack', aka 'The Villain'.

Jumpin' Jack Flash: David Litvinoff and the Rock'n'Roll Underworld
The opening sequence of this David Litvinoff biography describes how he was hung upside outside his London flat. An incident that inspired a similar scene in Villain. I've just bought the book, looking forward to reading it. Review as per amazon page here Jumpin' Jack Flash: David Litvinoff and the Rock'n'Roll Underworld"Keiron Pim's Jumping Jack Flash is an outstanding study of a remarkable, but until now wholly elusive figure. Meticulously researched and elegantly written, Pim's work is the first to bring us the story of David Litvinoff, that real-life Zelig of post-war British bohemia. And via the magnesium flare of his subject's story, Pim illumines the multifaceted world through which he moved: East End gangsters, Chelsea aristos, Soho artists and Notting Hill hippies. Litvinoff, for so long the missing piece of so many cultural jigsaws, finally gets a story of his own and it's even more bizarre than one might have hoped. This will be an indispensable read for anyone who appreciates that mad, alluring, myth-filled world." (Jonathon Green, author of 'Days in the Life: Voices from the English Underground')
