I think I read that Michael Elphick ran a pub at one stage, I expect he wasn't that different to Boon. In fact a relative who lives in London told me years ago that he knew a friend who used to see Elphick drinking with Peter O'Toole & others in his local pub & O'Toole called him 'Boony' apparently.

Yes, The White Swan in Henley in Arden. I think he ran it with a business partner but I'm not sure it was anyone well known. The interior of that pub was used for the fight scene in the Film I Bought a Vampire Motorcycle which starred most of the cast from Boon filmed around the same time as series 3.
I can imagine Michael being called Boony.
I also read that he was in the CFF film Black island which I think was a film you mentioned on another thread.

I'd imagine the pub venture did very well, Henley-in-Arden is a very nice place to stop off for a drink or two, being so close to Stratford-on-Avon and Warwick. Me and Mrs.Dakin nip over there quite a bit. The way some of the '80s series were shot somehow makes them look older than they actually are, whereas the rejuvenated DVD and Blu-Ray of The Professionals makes it look almost brand new, despite being shot forty odd years ago on 16mm film. Villain I have been to Henley a couple of times myself but never been in the White Swan. It is a busy place and I imagine in the summer it gets packed. When I watched Box 13 the other night it does appear old and that was a DVD not a TV broadcast. I'm trying to work my way through the series again. It is a good series

Which episode of boon was it ? He plays the eccentric neighbour of Boon's who answers a phone call for him from a public phone box & gives him a goat in 'Northwest Passage To Acock's Green', he's only in it for a minute & never seen again. Looking at his imdb credits he turns up again as a different character in a 1992 episode. Here they are in 'Black Island'

Ah, right. I haven't got that far with the box set yet. I have seen it all before but a while back. I'll watch out for him.

All Michael Elphick needs in that screen grab is a cloth cap and he's Magowan again. Don't really like or dislike Boon but suppose it's not something I'd rush to watch... might try a few eps on Drama ATM.

Yesterday's episode 'For Whom The Chimes Toll' was reminiscent of the Minder episode 'Whose Wife Is It Anyway?', a similar plot- Boon is hired to stay overnight at a posh house & look after a clock collection, whilst the owner of the collection turns out to be up to no good & again John Forgeham features as one of a pair of heavies, also Boon regular David Daker plays the bedridden character in 'Whose Wife'.
