Absolutely stunning photos Batgirl. Really envious of you. It looks like it was a fantastic event with the added bonus of a surprise result. Sets things up nicely for the rest of 2017. Thanks for posting all the photos Gene.

A great post Batgirl, fantastic pictures too. Good result for F1 I guess even if it wasn't the result I wanted. Sounds like you had as good a weekend as I did, shame you can't post reviews like this for all races, top work

A fabulous set of pics Batgirl. You are very privileged in Melbourne to have that amount of access to the cars and teams. Silverstone is nothing like that unless you are exceptionally rich.
The race result was unexpected and very welcome, even if taking the lead was the result of a pit stop rather than an overtake. Vettel is back. No one is safe.

I was surprised myself with the closeness we got to the actual cars in the pit garages. It is pleasing that the open grandstands opposite the pit garages are still an affordable price for fans. Other grandstands on turns are a really good price. I hope that never changes. It is full of people wearing Ferrari, Red Bull, Mercedes tshirts etc. As someone said to me it isn't the rich folk that buy the merchandising tshirts, hats etc. The catered pavilions that have open glass windows that are directly above the pit garages with tiered balconies are more than 10 times more expensive than my ticket was ! It was a great four day experience. I think two days is probably ideal but things I wanted to do meant commiting to every day. Thanks for the comments everyone. I bought a new camera at Christmas time which had its first real test at the track. It is a Canon Powershot SX420 IS which is a good compact camera with nice zoom capacity. Cheers !

Looks like you had a good race in Melbourne BG. Interesting that the Merc's advantage wasn't there unlike 2016 when their competitors had no answer to them. Okay Merc made a hash of their strategy but in the opening laps Vettel was there or there abouts and Lewis didn't scream off into the distance which he would have done in last years car. Will the Ferrari revival sustain over the whole season? Who knows but they seem much better than they were last year and if luck and professionalism stays on their side they can be contenders certainly. Not bad results too for Massa and Force India/Toro Rosso but maybe a downside of making the cars closer together has been cutting their ability to pass each other as once Vettel was ahead neither Verstappen nor Hamilton could do anything about him and a similar story across the field too. More woes for McLaren but only expected and surprisingly Alonso did a decent job until the car packed up on him towards the end. Seems like we've got a good season in prospect and be interesting if Hamilton and Vettel finally square up to each other in a title battle too.
