When i've watched Dr Who in the past it has been : Tom Baker and who doesn't love K-9 Peter Davidson - Played Dr Who very well an easy transition from Toms era. Colin Baker and Sylvester McCoy to a lesser extent. Christopher Eccleston - Thought he made a really great job of the character who had been on hiatus for quite a few years. He jumped ship way too early though IMO. David Tennant - Another good Dr, although I stopped watching somewhere in the middle of his tenure due to the program storylines beginning to be a bit middle of the road. For me they had way too much CGI (I'm not a fan of it) Also the whole bloody show seemed to revolve around London or Wales. Hasn't the Dr got a sat nav in his Tardis so as to go around the rest of the planet. At least now and then I never really bothered with it again after that point but others have said the last two Dr's have been very good indeed. If I were to pick my Favourite it would have to be Peter Davidson I'm more of a nuwhu person. I loved Christopher Eccleston and by some accounts, he thinks he left too early too. I think he had so much more to give the part. As quoted in The Big Bang Theory, Amy says, why when the doctor has the whole of time and space, does he spend so much time in today's London? Lol. Cardiff is also a firm favourite. Torchwood Seasons 1,2 & 3 filmed almost exclusively in Cardiff. Once Steven Moffatt took over, Matt Smith Era, it became a bit more complicated with story arcs spanning one or two or more seasons which was quite frustrating. If I had to pick a favourite it would be Christoper Eccleston, or wait, Matt Smith, or Paul McGann, no, I can't actually choose. I love them all.

Out of that little lot, for me, John Hurt would be the weakest. Not a fan of his at all. Gene. Knows his way around a VDU though. And around Heathrow!

I only ever saw one series of Dr Who and that was when Jon Pertwee was the Doc (The Doc? Bit of a flashback there...)
Anyway, the series I saw at the time was with the Sea Devils or whatever they were called. I saw it through to the end and then at the start of the next series decided that I couldn't be arsed to sit through another.
Whether it was down to Jon Pertwee or not I don't know but even Katy Manning wasn't enough to tempt me to keep watching.

Wouldn't call myself a Whovian as such but I do enjoy old Dr Who, got about 15 dvds mostly Tom Baker & Pertwee though Davison was the Doctor I grew up with. I live near Blackpool so I have memories of the Dr Who exhibition ( got some Dr Who Top Trumps from there which I had until recently when I flogged them on ebay ), years ago there was a DW tableau featuring the Tardis console on the seafront as part of the illuminations display. My mum also knitted me a Tom Baker scarf though I never wore it.
Favourite stories- Genesis Of The Daleks, Talons of Weng Chiang, Sea Devils, Daemons, Green Death, Seeds Of Doom, Brain Of Morbius, Terror Of The Autons.
The first DW story I remember seeing & being quite scared by is Destiny Of The Daleks.

I would say Davidson was the Dr I grew up with although I watched the Tom baker ones I did t really understand it being so young.

Knows his way around a VDU though. Cant bloody drive though Likes the sauce too... Back on topic not really a fan of DW kind of one of those programmes I don't like it or hate it. Didn't mind the Pertree/Baker/Davidison series and some of the Sylvester McCoy ones were okayish too. Not really a fan of the 2000s series as it feels more like a period/costume drama than the scince fiction series it used to be. Also the BBC seem to be milking a cash cow franchise from it to compete with the Harry Potter etc competition. Mind you I'm sure many current DW fans may not like most of the stuff I do so each to their own.

Dr Who, I'm afraid, I have to put on my list of "things you just don't get!"

If tempted to give it a go, would recommend starting with Blink. Its a stand alone episode with some great actors and showcases how clever the storylines can be, even though 'the doctor ' barely appears in it. Go on, you know you want to......
