One of the first contemporary UK thriller series produced by ITC was Danger Man. Initially it was produced in half hour episodes and was broadcast during 1960 and 1961, proving to be popular in both the UK and USA. However during the later 1960's ITC's sales to the USA had dipped so in an attempt to improve them Ralph Smart, the creator of the series, was asked to revive Danger Man in a new one hour format. These are the pages from ITC Entertains the World, a book produced to promote ITC's output, relating to the later Danger Man series. The first time i became aware of Danger Man was in 1994 when BBC2 put on a number of programs celebrating ITC and Lew Grade. The episode chosen was Colony Three which is commonly associated with the later Prisoner series. Here's some then and nows from that episode. Drake along with fellow defectors James Randall and Janet Wells arrive at Hamden NewTown. Then. And now, New Hatfield near Borehamwood. Then. And now. Then. And now. Then. And now. Janet Wells defected at the request of her boyfriend. The three are taken to see him. Then. And now, Saint Andrews Church in Totteridge. Then. And now. Drake is then shown his new place of work, the Citizens Advice Bureau. Then. And now, New Hatfield.

Thanks for posting these locations on here, Peter. Great photos I have the series box set of the black and white episodes, although I haven't watched them for a while. I'm probably more familiar with The Prisoner than Danger Man, however. Vi

Excellent Peter. It's been more years than I care to remember since I watched this. I'll have to try and get hold of them.
Great photos
Gene.

Very rare that it's shown on TV, i think if it had been made in colour it would have been shown far more often.

NOT to dismiss black & white tv because it looks "old". I am pleased to say it has done the trick as they regularly enjoy Hancock's Half Hour, early Steptoe, Laurel Hardy and Will Hay films.

Danger Man, this is a new one to me. Great then and nows Peter cheers for posting them.
I tried watching The Prisoner on one of the cable stations a few years ago, but it was shown out of sync and i never saw the end episodes. Very annoying.
I agree with the point on B&W stuff. I used to dismiss it as a kid because it really looked old to me and all the crap old films my dad used to watch. That and the fact that colour tv was still fairly new at the time. I learned to love old B&W stuff in the 90's when i got into retro tv. I dont mind it at all.

Great comparison shots PP, thanks for posting these up.
I can't remember the last time I saw any of these, to be honest I don't think I've seen them since they were re-run sometime in the late 60's early 70's.
That's yet another series that this forum has bought back to my attention and for me to watch again!
Sam.

I don't know 'Danger Man' but I know 'Danger Mouse'. Vienna probably likes Danger Mouse. Actually the show (Danger Man) looks quite good from Peter Picard's post. I will look out for it. Most excellent then and now pics.

Funny seeing the 'Just 4 Men' shop ( presume it's a barbers ) as 'The Four Just Men' is another ITC series made by the producer of 'Danger Man'.
