As Del rightly says, most of us on this forum probably remember watching this in the 70's and I was no exception. I loved it then but cannot watch it now, I find it a little too cringy to be honest but I do appreciate the work that Michael Crawford puts into the role. I'm on the same wavelength as the six million dollar man with this series. I thought it was great when I watched it as a kid but I'd struggle to sit through an episode now. Very much of its time the slapstick humour was incredibly successful but now would appear predictable and cringeworthy.
Notable episodes that I remember are with the roller skates, the car over the edge of the cliff, and the one with Arthur Tiger Pringle:
Is that what made you give up work and buy The Barley Mow?
Sam.

I liked this when it was on in the 70s, and some episodes still stand the test of time. I recently showed my 9 year old son some bits of it on Youtube, the one where Frank went roller skating and ended up hanging onto the back of the bus, and the driving test where he ended up driving his Hillman Imp off the end of a pier. He loved them both
I don't think it would have worked with Norman Wisdom, in fact, if he had been in it, I probably wouldn't have watched it as he was one of those people I just never found funny at all

I think some of the actors on The Last Of The Summer Wine were a bit Cheesed off with him, when he made an appearence on that show. I think the problem was that he wanted the limelight all the time. I love him in those films though. Charles.

Norman Wisdom is one of those people who I just never liked at all, to me he was completely unfunny. He reminded me a bit of George Formby, who was before my time, but I have seen clips of his stuff, which looked dreadful. Incidentally, my Dad was young at the time when Formby was big (1930s/40s) and Dad couldn't stand him!

I have just read a tweet from Vicky Michelle praising Joe Pasquale in the Role of Frank Spencer, and I was wondering if he was bringing it back on the box, but he isn't.
Apparently though he is playing the role in a touring stage show and by all accounts he is doing a great job in the part. He has received a lot of praise for the show. It's on near me next January in St. Helen's. I might ask the wife if she fancies going to see it.

Health and Safety would have a fit if you passed them the scripts these days.
