if you can get all the cast members back for the movie, and Gene Hunt has to kick in no less than 3 doors in the movie, thumbs up. I agree, and would love to see it involve the same cast, same era and similar script otherwise it just wouldn't be the same! Life on Mars was an amazing series, 16 episodes was just perfect. Its christmas time and I'm just watching the boxset again from the beginning. Look at fawlty towers with just 8 episodes, that makes it impossible for it to become boring with predictive scripts and now that as helped it to make that series a legend. Maybe to some Life on mars wasn't given the recognition it should have had, yes at the time it was big especially the anticipation of what would happen at the end, and to me with the ambiguous ending it just makes it better because I know what ending I want and always choose. But Life on mars is iconic and timeless! with a bit of everything in, what with Gene and Sam's characters and the way they bounce off each other, along with good story lines and a perfect sound track! forget slice bread! its the best thing since The Sweeney! and in another 30 years maybe people will be looking back and saying the same... So if there is a film! lets hope it lives up to the series! cos its been 10 yrs

If there's any news, let it be soon, even if it's no. As the previous poster said, age is against the cast. Maybe the story can be moved onto 1976, if it fits in with the chronology of course.

I think it was mentioned before that '76 would be a good year in which to base a film, the year is a remembered well by many for the summer and the music from that year was as good if not better than '73. Beware of including punk in an episode set in 76, it was pretty much unknown until Bill Grundy's interview with the Pistols which was at the very end of 76. I tend to associate it more with 77/78 and even then, the music charts had many other influences going on. The era was a great one, not just musically, in every way.
