Well what can I say - an enjoyable day out and a nice change from the norm, with coolish weather but at least it stayed dry for the day! Some superb and now picturesque locations from the Carry On films, many of which I have seen years ago or recently but never gave a thought too much to were they were filmed. But of course it made sense to film nearby to the famous Pinewood studios, and what interesting locations too.
The bonus location of the Professionals episode location for "Old Dog with New Tricks" (the first episode filmed in June 1977)was also a good one and so too was the location at the Long Walk for Carry On Henry. (?)
Huge thanks as ever to the Draughtsmen Gene and Sam for the planning, itinerary, directions, organisation with the super Royal Oak, always appreciated gents and more of 'em! Also thanks to the drivers and my squad driver for the day - Get Carter and for the drives there and back! Cheers Mate! And thanks for the laughs to Delboy/Electric Fish(?) and co for the re-enactments and driver organising! And thanks to anyone else for help before and on the day!
Great to meet up again and catch up with the group members and at the Royal Oak at Lunchtime and evening dinner, with agreeably good service and food! Thanks to all those that came and speedy recovery to Perfect Pseudonym too.
Carry on 43TV forum meets "Woo Hah Hah Hah Hah Hah"!!

Carry On meet report part 1This meet started out on a Saturday for me this time in order to save an early morning start. Oh alright then I admit it was another opportunity to get on the booze The journey in was fairly uneventful until the guard pulled a few people off at Staines for not having the correct ticket Still things were resolved fairly quickly and i found myself having a few lagers with the squad around some nice pubs in Windsor ...Happy Days My accommodation had a bed that was rather lumpy, Bernard did not sleep too well at all Fortunately though Sunday arrived and we had glorious sunshine. Bern set off suitcase in hand ready to meet up with Joan, Andrea and Sid at Mrs Fussey's house to go Carry On Camping.

Well, what another fantastic meet we all had on Sunday, eh? I hope everybody enjoyed it as much as I did. For me, it was a nice change to go somewhere else for a meet (although I always enjoy the London Sweeney outings as well). I started out on Saturday morning and got the train down to Windsor, arriving in the afternoon about 2pm. After checking into the hotel I decided to walk down to Eton where several locations from the 1971 and 1972-73 series of Public Eye were filmed in High Street, including Frank Marker's office. In the evening I met up with some of the lads for a few beers and a bag of chips, starting off in The Horse and Groom by the castle. On the day itself I walked back into the centre of town with Del Boy and Dirty Epic, who happened to be staying in the same hotel as me, to meet up with other members of the squad for breakfast at The King and Castle. On the way D.E. took some smudges of Del dressed as the Bernard Bresslaw character in Carry On Camping, complete with suitcase - hilarious stuff! We then met up with the other forum members at Windsor and Eton Riverside station, then the meet began... Despite not being a big fan of Carry-On films - though I do enjoy them from time to time - it was fascinating to see some of the locations around Pinewood Studios and Maidenhead, particularly the camping shop and the town hall used as the hospital. It was also interesting to visit the scenes filmed in Windsor itself during the afternoon walkabout. The dinner in The Royal Oak during the evening was very good indeed; however, it was unfortunate that we didn't really have time for Mick's quiz as some of us understandably had to make tracks early. Some of us then went back into Windsor for a couple of late drinks. I'd like to thank Brown Granada for driving John Steed and me around Berkshire in the morning, and to Mr Steed himself for his excellent navigation skills - although glad you stayed off the slightly salted pickled eggs on greaseproof the night before, sir! Thanks also to Del for the great entertainment he provided through the weekend, and to organising the drivers and passengers for the day. Thanks also to Sam for sorting out the dining arrangements for the day, and to the Saint and all those who turned up, especially those not mentioned so far who went on the pub crawl: Windy Miller, Perfect P., Bronson and Dirty Epic. And... a massive thanks to Gene Hunt (Bryn): without his hard work, time and effort in putting these meets together, I would never have met up with and got to know you all. So special thanks to you, mate, for making it all happen! Finally, the only disappointing thing that really happened was that a Vienna lookalike we met wouldn't sit for a photograph on the Sunday morning, otherwise a fab weekend. I hope the next one is as fun as this one and roll on to the next one in October - where ever it is! Vienna

Many thanks to Gene for arranging another brilliant meet. It was a privilege to be there with you all. I was a bit drained when I got home yesterday afternoon after a long journey, but it was a great weekend, and I had a terrific time. I will post my impressions when I get my thoughts together, probably tomorrow. Bronson
