One of my favourites too Ministrone, an aggressive early belter, makes The Jam sound like Duran Duran. Love the raw sound they had in their early days.
A double Sweeney connection with this song, written by Kenny Lynch from 'Down To You Brother' is Jimmy Winston And His Reflections version of 'Sorry She's Mine' which I actually prefer to the Small Faces version.
Marriott appeared on The Tube with Stanley Unwin

Good band,The Small Faces.I wouldn't say I'm a huge stinking fan,but I'm a fan all the same.Stevie Marriott had a cracking voice for such a small feller.Ogdens' Nut Gone Flake is a good album, not sure if it has aged as well as some of the other 'concept' albums from around that era,but good listening all the same.I'll tell you a massive point about the Small Faces was the way that they dressed.Man,they were a sharp looking bunch. They always seemed to be having a laugh as well.

16/17 year old Steve Marriott in 'Heaven's Above!', 1963 film starring Peter Sellers. Was surprised to hear someone say 'p**ses with rain' in this film, a strong word for the time.

I watched a couple of his early films at the weekend:
Live It Up! (1963) Be My Guest (1965)
it must have been pretty soon after this that he formed The Small Faces because he appears (as the rest of the band do too) in the 1965 film Dateline Diamonds. From the way it was billed, I expected to see more of them in that film but it was just a few fleeting shots. It mainly focussed on their "manager" Kenneth Cope.
Those early films weren't much but I think they cashed in on the new youth/rock'n'roll/pop market.

People certainly grew up quicker back then. Although he looks like a little kid in the film just a few years later he was writing & performing songs that are now considered classics. A 20 yr old writing such material today would be considered a genius.
