I was at the museum yesterday for a slot car event and managed to get a good look around the museum while I was there.
It was my first visit and must say that I would definitely be returning to a proper look around. Unfortunately I didn't have my camera with me but there are some excellent cars, bikes, and models on display.
Being involved with the slot car event I was able to access the loading bay and workshop at the rear of the museum where the public don't get to see. Up on the ramps was a stunning Daimler, not sure of the model but it was very similar in style to the Jaguar 420G - I'm sure someone could clarify for me?
If in the area I would certainly recommend stopping in for a good butcher's around.
Sam.

Is it in the centre of Coventry, near the bus station? I’ve been to Coventry quite a few times at the previous job as we had a client who ran the leisure centre there and had to visit them. I noticed a museum there but have forgotten which one it was

I agree. (I'm also surprised I hadn't commented on this thread actually!) - but yes I have enjoyed 2 visits I made there, the first in 2002 and again in 2012, with a bit of a refurb and different cars there, 10 years on. I would one day though like to see the overflow collection in the back workshops, which contain some really interesting cars which I've never seen in the flesh - some of which were prototypes which never saw the light of day.

There is a pay and display car park behind the museum which only charges £1.00 for all day Sunday so it could work out to be a very cheap day out. Sam.

I've heard of this museum and have yet to visit it. Its had a good quality extension added a few years ago which allowed more of the collection to be displayed. My travels don't take me through Coventry (i'm never sent there) but its definitely on the list

I worked in Coventry between '97 and 2001 so know the area fairly well but never went to the museum all the time I was there. There's certainly a lot of history to the area with its motoring heritage but even more so through the damage the krauts caused in WW2 and its subsequent regeneration. It may be a chequered past but definitely worthy of spending a couple of days there to see the museum and the remains of the cathedral.
