Has anyone seen these? Great clips of news and events and music from the 80's. There have been two episodes so far, 1980 and 1985. There's no commentary, just clips and text similar to Britain on Film. Last nights (1980) featured John Lennon, IRA Hunger Strikes and the SAS storming the Iranian Embassy among other items, such as Reagan winning the USA Presidential Election and Michael Foot, the unfancied outsider for the Labour leadership (Jeremy Corbyn anyone)
If you like your nostalgia 80's flavour then you can catch up on Demand 5.

Thanks for posting this Steve. I saw 1980 last night quite by chance, I thought it was interesting.

Saw some of the 1985 one the other night. I was quite shocked by the footage of the free festival at Stonehenge that never happened, according to the caption it remains one of the largest number of people arrested at one incident ( 537 people were arrested, 1,300 police were involved ). Why I hadn't heard of it before I don't know. Looked it up on wikipedia, it's known as the 'Battle Of The Beanfield'. The legality of the festival aside, from what I could see the police & locals were unnaturally hostile to what looked to me like a group of harmless New Age Travellers. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_the_Beanfield

I don't remember 1985 being so downbeat but with Heysel, the Broadwater Farm Riots, Valley Parade Fire and the British Airtours planer fire, there was a lot of misery around.

Of course these were woodentops, Regan & Hunt didn't get much opportunity to whip their truncheons out in a field.

Thanks for the heads up on this Steve. I've just watched That's so... 1980 on Ch5 +24. Really interesting, especially the bit on British Leyland, who ended production of the Mini and MG in 1980. Why did they want to kill of their best brands ?

Indeed!
Back here in 1973 it is happening more than ever and the great thing is that mobile phones and faecesbook haven't been invented yet so none of it is posted up for the world to see.
