I quite enjoyed the last 3 instalments he did and am pleasantly surprised it's back for a 2nd series! It's BBC2 Sunday night at 9 pm. Whatever you think of May it's enjoyable I think and talks about the post war era of cars which often were the ones we remember growing up and their predecessors. And probably a bit less highbrow than that "The Classic car show" on C4 (even if I will still watch that!).

Cheers Gerry, I like James May's presenting style (James May's Toy Storys & Man Lab) and so will be watching this. Thanks for the tip off

Thanks for the heads up Gerry
He is a good presenter in his own right and the first series as well as Toy Stories were very well done. I must admit I wasn't so keen on the Man Lab series but this makes up for it.
Sam.

Just watched the first one and May muses that to be good at car's you have to lose at war. This episode goes on to chart the fall of the U.S and British car industries from postions of power while the rise of the German and Japanese car makers was rapid and eventually outsold the big Marque's in their own backyards.

Just watched the first one and May muses that to be good at car's you have to lose at war. It's an interesting concept. Italy's position wasn't debated, but as they are still making thousands of Fiats and now partly own Chrysler, then I think they qualify in the lose the war so have a good car industry category. The cheese eating surrender monkeys in France also have a successful car industry, now collaborating in a big way with Nissan but are a different case as technically they didn't lose at war (they didn't win the war either). Are they the exception to the rule ?
