I have about two episodes of Ashes To Ashes to view, I got sidetracked ( A thousand apologies to the moderators who encouraged me to give it a go.) That's a failing of mine I've got DVD sets I haven't opened yet. Sometimes there are great demands on my time, with the family. I know that's no proper excuse though for taking so long. Gene Hunt is one of the all time great characters British TV has turned out. Sometimes I've wished that all of the other issues in the background, weren't present so that he could just get on with catching the villains, which is what he really wants to do. One thing I've not liked about series three, is that bloke with the glasses who is investigating Gene. He really bugs me. I wish Gene would punch his lights out.

No chance! Sam Tyler was always the better copper! He even invented the 'Stinger' (or 'Stringer' as Annie used to call it)
You never saw Gene invent something so radical, he'd just plough in in his size 11's!

Just watched ep. 7 of A2A far and away the best ep. of series 3. I feel like watching it again. Gene and Bolly had a date, which was going well until they were interrupted by Keats. There was so much else going on in this episode, though. At one point Gene and Chris were fighting that upset me a bit. At one stage, Bolly asked Gene what he was doing tonight, he said he was going to see "The Caretaker." at a West End theatre, I saw it myself in the nineties with Donald Pleasance, (Great, actor.) I fell asleep. Gene didn't miss much. I will be sorry to come to the end of Ashes To Ashes.

Sam Tyler was such a brilliant character. I love that character. His observations, cleverness and protocol about policing, women, racism and everything is such a contrast in that 1973 world. It is funny how things changed so much and it is laugh out loud funny at times. If I rewatch a Life on Mars episode I still enjoy Sam's lines and predicament finding the truth. I still seem to get caught up in it even though I know what happens ! Of course Gene Hunt is legendary but they are chalk and cheese. You can't compare of course.

I've only got one more episode of this series to watch now. The final one, which I will probably see tomorrow or Saturday.
I was reading an article by the actor who plays Keats, (I think his name is Daniel Mays.) I'm not all that fond of him actually, anyway he seems like a person who is well into politics. In the article, among the things he was going on about, was that in his opinion "Working class" actors aren't getting enough work these days because of their accents, I think he cited Downton Abbey. I know this was the case years ago, but I thought it was all sorted now? I've actually read pieces, or interviews by "Posh" actors saying their posh accents stop them getting work a lot of the time.
Those on the forum who attended the meet in London last Sunday will know that John Lyons, invited us to ask him questions. I just wish I'd remembered about Mays statement at the time, as I would have asked for John's opinion on this matter.

I watched the final episode of series three of Ashes To Ashes, the other night. Well ! What can I say ? Firstly, I don't want to spoil it for anyone who hasn't seen it yet, so I won't say too much. It was a deeply moving, mind blowing conclusion. I understood it, and it struck a big chord with me, because who know's what that situation could be like ? Speaking for myself, the ending made it certain, Gene Hunt and his team will never, ever be forgotten. I've heard rumours that there might be another series, with John Simm returning. I hope it comes off. I will be watching the last few episodes of series three, again in the next few days to take it all in again.

Great news Charles. So glad you have enjoyed the series and thank you for taking the time to post your thoughts on here. I told you the final episode explains everything and that it was a good one didn't I? It's so well filmed and you do (well I do obviously) immerse yourself in the storyline. Thanks again Charles Gene.
