I thought I would start a tribute thread as a place to post and discuss David's music and career.
David Bowie was a fantastic innovator and produced a musically diverse catalouge of the finest material whilst also writting songs for other artists. Where David was totally ahead of the game was combining his image alongside his music to create a total package and then every few years reinventing it to accompany new musical directions. David Bowie produced music which to me always seemed to be one step ahead of what other contemporaries were doing.

My favourite Bowie track is 'Queen Bitch' from the album 'Hunky Dory'. Not released as a single in the UK, but actually a B-side release in 1974 with 'Rebel Rebel'. Fantastic guitar riff from Mick Ronson too.

Some great choices there Del but I would add 'Loving The Alien'. It is very underplayed and maybe underrated in comparison to others but I think it is one of the top five for me:

I like his first LP & songs he did like 'The Gospel According To Tony Day' & 'In The Heat Of The Morning' before his 'Space Oddity' success. I used to know someone who was really into Bowie but he only really listened to the Berlin period, he wasn't interested in Ziggy Stardust & had never even heard Bowie's early stuff much like a John Thaw fan who is fanatical about The Sweeney but couldn't care less about Morse.

Before his fame Bowie appeared in a short film called 'The Image'. The director of this short Michael Armstrong made a film called 'The Haunted House Of Horror' which Bowie was slated to appear in, instead the part went to US singer Frankie Avalon. Armstrong also wrote the screenplay for 'The Black Panther', the controversial film about killer Donald Nielson.
