Hi
Thought I'd give it a go too. Just finished series two The Returned which was French subtitles so I wasn't put off by German subtitles. It's amazing how quickly you adapt.
For me though it's the tension. Constant throughout the show. Almost every scene he is at risk of being caught and I just don't know if I can enjoy this over eight episodes.

On the edge of the seat weren't you Bols when he was in that Art Deco shop
I'm enjoying it so far. Quite a few goofs though, like when Stamm & General Edel stop for a toilet break and fuel, then promptly get back in the car while the fuel nozzle is still in the tank, and drive off!

Noticed that too, about the fuel nozzle still stuck in the Merc's filler at the Petrol station!
Watched all 4 eps so far, and despite apparently some reviewers saying it has wooden acting and last weeks was a bit slow, this weeks really ratchet things up a bit........ won't give any spoilers but worth a watch. ;-)
Think there's going to be a few more shockers later I reckon.

{**SPOILERS** eps 4 & 5**}
So, I've seen eps 4 & 5 now. I think the quality of the storyline has sustained, bringing in lots of factors like his bosses son. At some points, I did think I was 'losing the plot' (no jokes, please!), but just about managed to keep a handle on it.
I have got a bad feeling about this whole 'kidney donation' strand of the story, I just don't trust that aunt, I think her dedication to 'the cause' is greater than her love for her sister and nephew, quite single minded, and I think his mother will twig this soon.
Then there's the loose end of that woman who overheard his telephone conversation in ep 1. No one's listening to her. Yet...! That will come back to bite him.

{Spoiler Alert - Click Here To Reveal} Well I'm loving Deutschland 83. I think it's getting better every week. Martin is getting more confident and is even making decisions of his own now and the series is more enjoyable as a result.
The kidney transplant story is a bit boring. I don't like his mom but I love to hate the aunt !
I think if there is a series two he will agree to work undercover and we won't need the kidney transplant as an enticer.
Alex Edel! What's going on with that hairstyle, bit of a gay stereo type in the wardrobe department too ! I think he will betray his dad and a good scapegoat for Martin if his cover is blown. Alex's mom though, what a women, think there's lots of potential with her. The sister who overheard Martins phone call can't believe she's still alive. Think she will be bumped off soon.
Looking forward to episode 6.

I discovered a series tonight that I'm really going to enjoy if the first episode is anything to go by. Like 'Deutchland 83' it's set behind the Iron Curtain in the 1980s cold war period. this series takes place in Romania not East Germany. It's Called 'Comrad Detective'. The thing is though, you have to have access to Amazon TV ( I got access just today.) so not a lot of people will get the chance to enjoy it. It's sort of a spoof with some very funny bits, and yet serious at the same time. If anyone gets the chance to watch it, give it a try. www.google.com/amp/s/www.gq.com/story/channing-tatum-comrade-detective/amp

Yeah I watched it when it was on Channel 4 in 2016. Generally pretty good. The film Legally Blonde is sort of similar too.

I didn't know it had been on Channel 4 Dirty. I hope they show it again so more people will get the chance to see it.
