Was wondering if anybody had seen or was aware of the documentary film released about the all conquering Brian Clough Nottingham Forest side of the late 1970s?I had a copy bought me for Christmas, and although I'm not a Forest fan as such, you really don't have to be.It's an absolutely brilliant watch, this film.Jam packed full of quality 70s football clips (unseen for decades),interviews with every single major player in the side,it is absolutely top drawer. The European Cup winning side of 1979 and 1980 now goes down almost as folklore here in Nottingham, and I am privelidged to have met most of the ex-footballers from that great Forest side. Can I also add as an aside the soundtrack, which after watching the film I went straight out to buy.It is a package of the very highest quality and has had rave reviews, with lots of the press calling it 'The best football film ever'.10/10,if you see it in your local supermarket and have a passing interest in 70s football nostalgia it is unmissable.

I had heard about this Superclassic but wasn't aware it was available on DVD. I'll keep an eye out for it. What or rather who is on the soundtrack album?
Thanks for reminding me about it

I love the story of Cloughie and especially the achievements of Forest. All critics were answered from this rise of a provincial club when the chips were down after the last days of his tenure's at Derby and Leeds. I'll try to get a copy of this.
Thanks Superclassic.

Thanks for reminding me about it The soundtrack is an excellent mixture of classics, most from around the 1974-79 period, but a few others thrown in.Archie Bell and the Drells are on there,Gloria Gaynor singing one of my favourite disco songs-Never Can Say Goodbye,The Love I Lost is on there,Summertime by Kool And The Gang, loads of underground soul numbers on there too.Well worth browsing through if this kind of music interests you in the slightest. There is a fantastic instrumental on there called 'Bongo Madness',I have never heard it before but it's a kicking tune.Very of the period.Lots of the music is very similar to stuff used in the likes of The Sweeney.....it's a good listen, you won't be disappointed.

Did you see the recently televised two part series about all our successes in Europe. It covers Liverpool's win from 1977 and then Forest's and Villa's triumphs ending with Liverpool's success in 1984. It was on ITV a couple of weeks ago.

No. I missed that. I'll try and track it down. Thanks. Should be on ITV hub somewhere When English Football Ruled Europe Two-part documentary series examining the years between 1977 and 1984 when three English football clubs – Liverpool, Nottingham Forest and Aston Villa – lifted the European Cup a record seven times.
