Nice one Gene - count me in as a driver please, plus the noggin / nosebag later on! Villain Nice one Villain, name added! Look forward to hopefully seeing one of your classics! The Saint Thanks Mr.Templar sir! Not sure what I'll be driving on the day as things might have changed by then. Not saying too much in case it all ends in tears (it often does!) but I'm actively looking at something to replace the Alfa and possibly the Jag as well Villain

Gene,
Great idea for a meet. Can I reserve a place please. Also, talking to Michael Rodd, he'd also like to attend, including grub - and possibly with a Carry On quiz!
We'll drive up in probably a 2 seat motor.
Cheers,
Stan

I said Derek dear boy, I don't even know what the bloody questions are yet !!!What a great idea for a meet. For all members that are considering joining us for our second 4:3TV Retro Channel meet, the following should help with planning your journeys in to Windsor for the Carry On locations.
Locations Here's a plan view of the key locations for the breakfast, meeting point, and dinner for the day:
As you can see we shall meet at the ticket office end of Windsor & Eton Riverside station - please do not get confused with Windsor & Eton Central station. There are khazis provided in the station if you need to point Percy before we jump into the cars and make our way to Maidenhead.
For those travelling by car: For those of you driving in to Windsor, your best bet would be to travel along the M4 to Junction 6, drop down on the A355 / A332 and then turn off at the slip road down to the roundabout at Clewer. Follow the signposts for Windsor Town Centre and the brown signs for Windsor Castle. The post code for Windsor & Eton Riverside station is SL4 1QG and as can be seen from the above map the car park is just past the station on King Edward VII Avenue.
For those travelling by train: Windsor & Eton Riverside station is the terminus of the line direct from Waterloo. Journey time from Waterloo is 51 minutes (08:25 service from Waterloo arrives at 09:16). Arriving at the meeting point couldn't be easier! Windsor & Eton Central Station is again a terminus station served by trains via Slough which is on the main line between Paddington and Reading. Journey time from Paddington is 43 minutes (08:15 service from Paddington, change at Slough for 08:52 service to Windsor). On arrival walk through the station in the direction of the castle. At the main road turn right and walk down the hill to the T junction at the bottom and then turn right. The Riverside station is on the left after a very short walk along the Datchet Road.
For those travelling down and staying overnight:
As stated above, Windsor & Eton Riverside station is the terminus of the line direct from Waterloo. On the route it stops at Feltham, Ashford, Staines, and Datchet so accommodation could be sought close to these stations. Similarly accommodation could be sought in Slough for the short hop into the Central station.
I shall monitor the plans for Engineering works on those lines and will post up on here again should there be any changes or planned closures.
The evening meal is now booked at The Royal Oak and the manager has asked that parties pre-book our meals in advance. I will confirm numbers to him nearer the time and will post up the menu ahead of the day.
We look forward to seeing you there.
Sam.

I have just ordered the set, they are temporarily out of stock, but should be getting some stock soon. *** EDIT: Now back in stock ***>> Carry On Box Set <<The Saint

Looking good Gene, fantastic idea for the second 4:3TV Meet . Really looking forward to this as my other half's parents came from Maidenhead and used to see most of the Carry On cast knocking about in the '50s and early '60s. Villain

Hi all and Happy New Year, can you put me down too please and for a nosebag? I plan to be a passenger as well, (as my informant told me on the blower today that he's happy to drive on the day - possible extra wheels). Can press the squad car into service though in case anything changes later.
The informant may be along shortly too, ;-) Hope that's OK. Cheers
