Sam,
Excellent set of pictures; thanks for sharing. Range is similar to the classic car event held on Brighton sea front early June each year.
Must admit the two convertible Mk2 Cortina's in the pics stood out for me. Purely because it was such a common vehicle - but not in this form!
Great to see well-preserved examples of 70s classics - and a few not so!
Cheers,
Stan

It's a Vauxhall Firenza Droopsnoot Batgirl. Gene. Well that's a new one for me. Try saying that five times quickly. Thanks Gene.

Great set of smudges Sam, many thanks for posting . The Paprika coloured P6B V8 looks great on those Rostyle wheels, can't make out the front wing badge 100% but it looks like a '3500S' manual car. The Fords (UK and US) look very tidy too! Villain

Sorry I hadn't commented on the photos but looks a great turnout considering the weather (I chickened out this year because of it! lol) I would also mention that the Droop Snoot Firenza by the registration is more than likely one of the Vauxhall Press launch cars when the HP ("High Performance" to give the Droop Snoot its correct title) was launched and is a Luton reg no.
Also the owner of the Limeflower Maxi is a mate of mine......(I believe Brown Granada and Villain might know him too - - he used to have an A reg beige Maestro previously but now owns its predecessor!). It's the oldest surviving rod operated gearbox Maxi (in other words the type with the divided grille, they changed over at J reg). Bit of an interesting history too, the original owners had it until the 90's. In the meantime it was used as background prop car in the 1970 set episode of 90's period drama "Our friends in the North" in a car park scene with some dialogue. It was owned by one of the plain clothes coppers. Supposedly brand new as it had a false H reg plate on it, but looked the part for an earlier Maxi as it still had the earlier "cable box" Maxi tailgate badge. Tried to get the car in our Flying squad film as a passing traffic prop car but the owner had other commitments that weekend.
Paprika P6's are quite rare now, another classic owning mate used to own one, I even wonder if that car smudged was his. I remember one was used in The Professionals episode "First Night" by the villains when a dog walker reports it after seeing it driven suspiciously fast!! Had Denovo alloy wheels fitted too, and despite Doyle saying it was on "False plates", the car really was registered with the number shown!
Corgi in the Vanguards model car range made one too, as I have one.

Hi. Yep the 2 silver Vauxhall Coupes are HP Firenzas and were a rare limited production hotter Firenza, (HPF meant High Performance Firenza) mainly produced in silver with a 2.3 litre engine and I think a 5 speed box. Only 204 were made from late 1973 to early '75. The top car with the gold wheels is an ex Vauxhall press car, with a Luton registration and the other one is a wide arch rally spec car of some sort but I'm not 100% if it is an original historical race car or a souped up HPF. There have been some lookalikes made with kits of the sloping front made available to graft onto lesser spec Firenzas and the wide arch replica kits too. (Bit like they did with the replica nose cones and wide arch kits for MK2 Escorts, making them look like the RS2000 - Professionals car). Also when production of the HPF ended, the left over 197 nose cones were grafted onto some special edition Magnum estate cars and painted a very dark cherry colour called "Extra dark wine" with the full instrumentation, 2.3 litre engine, Plaid cloth seats and the HPF's alloys. A few survive and a mate used to have one. Digressing a bit, the white MK3 Ford Zephyr 6 estate photo'ed was also a prop car in our "Flying Squad" tribute film, ;-) Bit of a copy and paste of my comment last year explaining more about the Droop Snoot Firenza!

A Limeflower Maxi and a Paprika P6B, is there anything more '70s than that...? Good to hear about the background of the Maxi and I was watching 'First Night' again recently where the Paprika P6 gets a bit hairy going round the corners on its Denovos - top stuff. There are a couple of other P6s in that episode, both cozzer mobiles, one in white and one in blue, possibly Zircon, Corsica or Scarab blue. Paprika P6s are certainly rare now, it's one of the better colour choices in the range but for some reason seems to be outnumbered by the yellows and browns. A few years ago at the NEC classic show there was a beautiful Paprika 3500S on display, festooned with just about every P6 optional extra you could think of, it looked the mutt's danglies and as the icing on the cake I think it even had a Mango (orange) cloth 'box pleat' interior. I've just been sorting through my photo archive and have a massive amount of P6 shots showing all the available colours, I'll start a separate thread on them soon and load them up Villain
