Thank you for your company and wheelmanship on the day Mr Parker . I must say your Vauxhall Carlton is a very comfortable carriage indeed and is a rare site on London roads these days. I feel i must apologise to you for not sliding your breakfast under the trap door in the Wetherspoons, thus allowing you to eat it whilst hot Good point you raised about getting to the last location. Saint's sat nav routed him through central london to the first location which he missed. My sat nav was also a pain that day trying to take me on routes i didn't want to go on. I must admit we had to follow another squad car a few times until it sorted itself out

At previous Meets, I always had to spend hour upon hour preparing a turn by turn route map for all drivers weeks before the event. I'd been doing this about the last 8 years and it was extremely time consuming to produce. Hence why we moved to issuing postcodes only. I had no bother with my sat nav at all. I think the lesson to be learned for everyone driving is to look at the route before the day (all postcodes were in the itinerary posted months before the Meet) All sat navs are different in the way they route but (to the best of my knowledge) will re route if you deviate. Choose a route in advance and avoid the traffic.
Gene.

I think perhaps I should've retired for the night a bit h'earlier, and maybe had a sherry or two less with young Brains Saturday night - he was showing me some new-fangled contrap-shion he's working on, he calls it a "mobil wireless telephone". The sherry's went straight through me Sunday morning....all h'individually! No problems with Brains's "satellite navigation machine" Mr Hunt, I fear it was me stupidly relying on following h'other motor vehicles who were lost. We never made the last location on foot due to a bunch of us doing several laps of the same route wearing the soles of our shoes away before someone realizing we were only yards away all along. Mr Hunt, I'd be more than happy to print off and hand out route-planners for the next meet if someone can email it to me. Always happy to help any-tayme.

Yeah granted that wasn't sustainable Gene, it was a large amount of pages.
I'm going to try another app on my phone which allows some control over the route. I was using the usually good Here App and I had pre programed it but the poxy thing kept trying to route me over bridges in central London on the way to the first location. We ended up going a bit wrong on the last one and using Hammersmith Bridge on the way back west.

We used Mickyosan's google maps app on his iPhone but that had its moments so we resorted to the inbuilt sat nav on the X-Trail for the route back to Latymers at lunchtime. To be honest Del I think they're all susceptible to being a bit moody, especially in London where there are so many possible routes. When I left to go home, it wanted me to go back to the M1 via central London from Colet Gardens rather than back to the M4/M25/M1 which is the route it told me to come in on, needless to say I gave central London a miss

I have to say once more, how much I appreciate the guys who drive us around London, and it suburbs at these meets. They do a great job. The other Sunday half way through the drive around the various locations, our wheelsman put some David Bowie sounds on, and it was great. I've never enjoyed listening to Bowie more.
