What a weekend! For me, this meet was possibly the best one I have been to. Many thanks Gene for drawing up a first class itinerary; I am amazed at the detail and planning with timings etc. Thanks also to Sam, Del Boy and The Saint too for your involvement and work on the forum. Saturday started off with myself and Vienna travelling down by train and meeting Dirty Epic for a few afternoon beers. Cheers Dirty for showing us some excellent pubs, we thoroughly enjoyed it. Saturday evening was superb too when we met up with Windy Miller, Bronson and Del Boy for beers, banter and an excellent meal. Thanks Windy for showing us around some absolutely first class pubs. The Sunday was a brilliant day from Start to finish and it was nice to chat with several members of the squad which is good on the walkabout section in the afternoon. Latymers was a good place for our lunch break and The Queen's head provided a good evening meal. The Swan in Hammersmith was a top place to round off the evening after The Queen's head, so thanks Vienna, Dirty Epic, Windy Miller, Brown Granada and Peter Picard for good some banter to finish off the day. A massive thanks too Brown Granada for driving us about in your lovely Mk1 3 Litre Blue Oval Barge, it is always brilliant to sit in the Guvnor's seat. As always there was loads of great banter during the drive. Thanks also to Vienna for great banter over the weekend and thanks Mick for your Quiz.
Thanks to everyone who attended and collectively made the first 4:3 meet the very successful day that it was.
Cheers all Steed

Some great posts above, BTW Anyway, just to say yet another fab meet organised by the genius that is Gene Hunt. I have now been to ten meets and this one was as good as it gets! So thanks to Gene, Sam, The Saint and to Del Boy and everyone else who turned up for making it such an enjoyable day. Nice also to see a new face or two such as Steve Austin. Hopefully you will attend many more in the future, Steve. I personally like the new format of having a drive around the locations in the morning followed by a walkabout in the afternoon - after a liquid lunch, of course, and a bowl of chips. On the Saturday, as per usual, I came down to London from the Midlands with John Steed and we had some good banter, so thanks to him for booking the train/hotel etc. Thanks also to Dirty Epic for meeting up with us for a drink or two on Saturday afternoon and also to Windy Miller for his splendid idea for an evening in central London, going round pubs like The Nell Gwynne and The Salisbury for a few jars and a bit of grub. Unfortunately, I fell off my stool in the last pub we went in, which was a bit embarrassing to say the least! I wasn't even that p****d either. On the day of the meet itself Brown Granada drove me and Steed around the locations in his fantastic motor, so thanks for that Rob. Thanks also to Steve for the after dinner speech and his brother Mick for his entertaining quiz. The Queen's Head is still a good place to have the meal, although there has been a bit of a price rise on some of the meals we used to have since it was refurbished. Very nice fish 'n 'chips though. Some great motors on show again this time, however, I thought the highlight of the whole meet was meeting Del Boy - he's just such a funny bloke! Thanks again to Gene and everyone... Roll on the next one in April, even if it's not an actual Sweeney meet and is a different TV series. Anything retro will do for me. Vienna

Thanks to Gene and to everyone for a great and memorable day on Sunday. I saw places that I've never seen before in my life - even though I'm a Londoner!!
Till the next time ...
Best Wishes to everyone

Many thanks to Gene for a very succesful, first Sweeney meet of the 43: TV Retro forum. Gene took us to quite a number of really top Sweeney locations as usual, and more than ever it was apparent to me, how much work he puts in to these events. It was brilliantly organised, there were many locations to fit in, but it all went so perfect, and we had some excellent weather once more. It amazing though just how big London is, and I really appreciate the guys who drive us around, it can’t be easy. London traffic is so busy even on Sundays. Many thanks to Boycie for being my wheelsman on Sunday. You did a great job, and we were always among the first cars to arrive at the various destinations. I also enjoyed meeting Superclassic once again, and travelling about London with him, great company, and a friendly guy. Thanks also to Windy Miller for organising the Saturday night pub crawl. It’s good to meet up like that, as some of us have travel up the day before and would otherwise have to Spend the Saturday evenings on our own. You took us to some first class boozers in the Covent Garden area Windy, and I’ve made a note of them for future reference. Thanks once again to the staff, especially Gene and Del Boy for their work on the day. Hope everyone else had a great day, and I look forward to the next location tour. I’ve joined Photo bucket and have uploaded a lot of the smudges I took last Sunday and hope put some of them on this thread in a day or two. Cheers, Charles

Plenty of good replies, thanks for all your reports
For me the day got off to a better start than normal thanks to an early start and meeting the first few faces at Colet Gardens before wandering off for a hearty (large) traditional breakfast down at the William Morris in Hammersmith (thanks Gene ). The only downside was that they weren't allowed to sell us a Guinness until 9:00 so we had to make do with a coke.
Good to see Steve Austin along for his first meet too. Great report Steve, glad you enjoyed it.
As has been said before, Gene is the master when it comes to penning the itinerary and this meet was no exception. It was a great plan well executed. I won't cover the locations as it has already been said but it was a superb itinerary and great to see these locations up close and in such good weather again too.
The evening session also went really well with all joining in with Mick's quiz and Steve once again the master of ceremony.
Shame that Villain and superclassic had to make tracks early but it was understood and we hope to see you back for the full day of the next meet.
I'd like to extend my thanks to all the squad for joining in and making the day the success that it was, thanks also to Del-Boy and The Saint for their assistance, thanks to those members that insisted on buying Gene and myself numerous drinks throughout the day and The Saint for the lunchtime chips. Thanks lads
Thanks also to those that commented on the 4:3TV shirt that I was wearing, there were a good number that expressed an interest so anyone that would be keen on a shirt or have any other suggestions for 4:3TV merchandise, please get in touch and we'll see what we can arrange.
Finally the big thanks go to Gene for all the work he does in putting these meets together, for ferrying me around the locations, and for the sheer number of laughs we had throughout the day.
Sam.

Thought I'd give it a few days before doing my report. It's given me time to digest what a lot of you have said and so first and foremost, thank you to everyone who has posted such positive comments about our very first 4:3tv Meet. The day got off to an early start for me as usual. I prefer to drive down through the night and arrive early. After a couple of ports of call on the way into central London I eventually arrived at Colet Gardens at 7:45am. There were already a small group of members gathered which was nice to see. Having greeted the few that were there, and soaked up the comments about my outfit, it was a quick stroll for a full English in the William Morris. I think this will be a regular feature from now on! Back up to Colet Gardens, and by this time quite a few more of the squad had arrived. Before long, everyone was there and it was time to head off to the first location. I won't go through each one as it's already been done above. Suffice to say that everything went to schedule and we arrived back at Latymers for lunch around 12:30. Thanks to all the guys who got Sam & me a few pints in, and to The Saint for the welcome bowl of chips. Cheers lads Time went by quickly and soon we were on our walkabout section of the itinerary. We really couldn't have asked for better weather could we ? A nice relaxing walk and a good few laughs along the way and we soon found ourselves back at The Queens Head. Once again, the QH did us proud with quick, polite service, and the privacy of the extension room for our meal and quiz. Big thanks to Mick for all the work that he puts into preparing the quiz. No one does these as well as Mick and this one was the best ever. Sam & I found ourselves lumbered with Windy Miller, Dirty Epic & Del Boy on our team and they were all hopeless. The 76/80 score was entirely down to the Admin members. All too quickly the day drew to an end. It all went by so quickly and I was soon embarking on the 140 mile drive home, taking time to reflect on what I genuinely believe to have been the BEST meet we've had to date. You are all great members. Willing to get involved, showing keen interest in the locations, and just enjoying yourselves. We couldn't ask for more. Huge thanks to Sam for his assistance throughout the day, and for the fish & chips, as well as the T Shirt and for being bloody good company in the motor Huge thanks to Del for helping run the register this time. Something I've always done myself in the past but this time, thanks to Del, I was able to concentrate my efforts elsewhere. Thanks to all drivers on the day. Without you, these Meets could simply not take place. It's no easy task to drive around London but you all did it in style. Finally, big thanks to each and every one of you for making it a special day indeed. A great bunch of people, no mistake. Now, surely someone bagged a snap of Gene in character on the day ? Here's to the next Meet - whatever that may be Gene Genie.

Ok, so in the spirit of this excellent forum, here's 4 highlights and 3 thank you's.
Highlights:
1. Itinerary: best yet - varied range of locations, plenty of which were new and surprising - especially the Queens Pawn court.Nice to end with the quiz too.
2. Camaraderie: walkabout enabled the squad to mix and share thoughts ideas not just Sweeney-related, but thanks to this forum lots of other retro info. Plenty of good-natured banter as well.
3. Squad cars: what a range and highly appreciated by us all. Seeing them all driving around in convoy was like being back in 1978.
4. Garb: special mentions to Gene and Del in particular for the attention to detail in chararacterisation. Del - I expected you to start doling out Rooney ID bracelets! Gene - not sure how you sourced a tie of such authenticity.
Thank you's
1. All the squad: great atmosphere - everyone contributed to a memorable day
2. Our Fab4 moderators: who combined so well to organise all matters so well
3. Gene: the hours of preparation you put in ensure that the whole event runs so well. Nice one Guv!
Looking forward to the next 4:3 event already.
Cheers,
Stan
