The final Morse episode The Remorseful Day, where Morse quotes AE Housmann's poem was filmed in the garden of The Victoria Arms in Old Marston looking across towards the Cherwell. That was a now photo, here's a then photo. In Who Killed Harry Field Morse's investigation into Field's death leeds him to the home of wealthy Frenchman Paul Eirl. This is Brocket Hall, Lemsford, Hertfordshire. Now. And then.

Thanks Sam. These are also from the Who Killed Harry Field episode. Literally just outside the gates of Brocket Hall is the Crooked Chimney pub which is where Harry Field's Vincent Black Shadow motorcycle is found abandoned. Then And now A tower in one of Harry's paintings helps to lead Lewis to the girl who models regularly for him. The tower is the water tower at the old Shenley mental hospital in Hertfordshre which closed down in the ninties and has since been redeveloped Then. And now.

Thanks for posting these pics up PP they are a good match.
There's certainly been some development made on that tower, I wouldn't have liked to be the poor bugger that had to cut in all those lintels for all the windows!
Sam.

Thanks Steve and Sam. As i mentioned the painting with the tower in the background leads Lewis to the girl. She was called Jane Marriott and lived on a run down estate. This is just down the road from the tower. A place called Shenleybury cottages. Then. And now.

The final episode of the first series in 1987 was Service Of All The Dead. This began with the apparent murder of a tramp during a church service. In the program this was St Oswalds. Then. Now. St Michaels at Bray near Windsor. Morse interviews Ruth Rawlinson who regularly attends the church, initially at her work place. Then, Dorney Court near Windsor. Now. Later in the episode Morse also calls on Ruth Rawlinson at home. Then. North View on Wimbledon Common. Now.
