Here is a short clip for starters...
This is a very rare clip of Tony Hancock playing cricket in Melbourne on the first week in October 1967. Also in the video you may recognise another very famous face of the time. Matt Monro. Good friends Tony & Matt were both working in Melbourne at the time - Tony at the Dendy Theatre and Matt at The New Twenties Nightclub. Both of them were staying at The Southern Cross Hotel at the time and they spent a lot of time together whist there.
An interesting link for me personally is that Matt Monro, or Terry Parsons as he was then, served in the Armed Forces in Hong Kong while my Dad was also in the forces there.
The video was very poor quality when I originally got it. I have made a slight improvement to it myself but it is still poor. Even so, it is extremely rare and a valuable moment in time caught forever.
I've been in touch with Matt's daughter Michele for a number of years and more recently this week when I sent her a copy of the video.
Gene.

Brilliant Gene, great to see Tony at play and seemingly relaxed. Much is made of his self analysis and introspection, making this short clip more enjoyable and rare.

Nice to see Tony enjoying himself.
Great piece of film of one of our very greatest comedy talents.
Well done Gene.

Look forward to seeing the clip Gene, later as the internet's not showing the visuals at the moment, (got "green screened" at the mo). Two legends relaxing together - superb!

Here is another video that I shot 25 years ago at the Tony Hancock Appreciation Society Bournemouth Reunion (therefore I claim ownership of this clip). At the event, we were joined by Ray Galton, Alan Simpson & the legendary Graham Stark who appeared in some great films including: - A Shot In The Dark (1964)
- Alfie (1966)
- The Wrong Box (1966 - With Tony Hancock)
- Casino Royale (1967)
- The Plank (1967)
- Doctor In Trouble (1970)
- The Return Of The Pink Panther (1975)
- Revenge Of The Pink Panther (1978)
- The Prisoner Of Zenda (1979)
- The Sea Wolves (1980)
- Trail Of The Pink Panther (1982)
- Superman III (1983)
- Curse Of The Pink Panther (1983)
He also starred in a film made the same year as the Hancock event in 1993 called "Son Of The Pink Panther" (1993).
Graham met Tony Hancock, Dick Emery & Peter Sellers when serving in 334 Company during WW2 in Greece. Hancock & Sellers were lifelong friends of Starks, with Hancock getting Stark his first break after being demobbed in Happy Go Lucky, a one hour variety show broadcast by the BBC. Although the show ultimately failed, it was a step in the right direction for Stark who went on to bigger and better things.
Graham Stark passed away after suffering a stroke in October 2013 at the age of 91.
Here is Graham reminiscing about how Tony helped him get his break.
