One of my personal favourites is Nightmare from series 4. The first episode to be filmed in 1978 and after they finished work on Sweeney 2. I saw this on Granada Plus back in 2002 and thought that scene of the Irishman murdering that lorry blagger was cold as ice. The climax must have been really shocking and groundbreaking at the same time with the villains using a laser-sighted machine gun (this episode was filmed before the Professionals one which featured a similar weapon) which is then used by a young girl. I also liked the scenes between Haskins and the Special Branch detective played by Kenneth Watson. Regan and Carter were never too far behind Farrell & Flynn.

I think "Abduction" - for it's tension - and "Selected Target" - great story and fight scene in the lift and tower block!

I like Selected Target as well, has a touch of realism as the squad don't win and really that that last scene as Jack and Bill exchange glances listening to the radio announcing another bank job.
Messenger of the Gods sort of summarises everything that's good about the Sweeney, fights, clever dialogue, great characterisations.
Funnily enough I love Ringer as well starring Alan Lake, Diana Dors husband/partner.

Me too on Selected Target. Like the location filming, the summer 76 feel and some great dialogue. Others in the frame are Visiting Fireman, Poppy, Nightmare, Faces and Messenger of the Gods.

Going off topic slightly I noticed on Network's site that a play starring John Thaw from 1984 called 'Killer Waiting' is being released as part of a trilogy of plays in September- networkonair.com/shop/2223-killer-5027626434649.htmlI visit Network every so often to check if any more Sweeney blu rays are scheduled for release, it's been over 3 years since the first series came out! I was looking for something to watch on YouTube last night Arthur and noticed 'Killer Waiting' on a YouTube channel called 'Chipps' I ended up watching it and thought it was pretty good. John Thaw played an ex-Army Officer with a bad history in Belfast. There are two more separate stories in the trilogy. One with Anthony Valentine and one with Edward Woodward. I'm looking forward to giving them a viewing. Charles.
