One of my favourite episodes. Mine too. Remember first watching this on Granada Plus in 2002 and I thought for a moment that Farrell (the bad guy with the 'tache) was being played by Joe Melia who starred as the ill-fated Ronnie Brent in Sweeney! This had the highest kill count ever in the entire series (6 men) and a climactic showdown worthy of The Professionals. In fact, this was filmed a few months before Hunter/Hunted in which Bodie and Doyle also had to deal with a villain carrying a laser sighted rifle. Also David Wickes who directed Nightmare had come off from filming a few Pros episodes.

Good episode but let down by the premonition angle.

On the Facebook page devoted to the show (Oi! We're The Sweeney), somebody re-edited the opening sequence of this episode, completely discarding the girl's dream, putting in its place a scene from Jigsaw where Regan talks about Irishmen, then the next clip is of a lorry pulling in and Farrell & Flynn waiting in the car saying it's their man. Then you see the would-be lorry thieves observing the driver in the cafe and then plays the titles sequence, only it's the original blue tinted one and when that finishes, the next scene is of Norman Charles going up to the Dutchman and threatening him.

Agreed, excellent episode but the dream sequence at the start didn't add anything to it and seemed superfluous. Liked Jack's girlfriend though!

This episode was inspired by true events concerning the theft of several laser sighted rifles and of course, the IRA.

Tony Hay must've knocked a few of those cigars to Arthur Daley, they're in his lock up in the episode "Monday Night Fever".
