Yes it's odd that he behaves so casually.
Also thought the scene where Regan visits the pilot was unlikely, if the idea behind the episode is that Cook was sprung to get revenge on Regan, why would Regan think Cook would be trying to get out of the country asap?

Is Chertsey worth a visit? I've never had the pleasure
Was the cricket club in the episode nearby too?
I can't imagine that little clubhouse still exists
Another reminder of the long hot Summer of 76 with the parched cricket pitch that looked like a discarded ciggie would set the whole pitch ablaze
As you lot probably already know, I've discovered the cricket club featured was...
The club is still going strong but, no surprise, they've rebuilt the club house
No sign of Cook and Pinder though

All good points - the plot's got more holes than a Swiss cheese

Some interesting points Gerald.
I assume when Cookie was sprung from hospital he was dumped a few roads away from Pinder's/Uncle's sister's place hence why he's walking with the Frenzy music to that gaff. Still it would take a while for his description to be circulated so assume he'd be fairly safe on the day unless he stumbled across a copper on the way or so. Maybe Cookie's not savvy enough to lie low/disguise himself anyway and doesn't really worry about the consequences of getting caught or (as pretty much happens) those who get caught up with him in this caper.
As for Pinder well there are a few things which don't quite ring true although the relationship with 'Uncle' isn't that far fetched I suppose. The sudden bought of illness is wonder if that was written in last minute here... maybe the actor was ill and couldn't do the scenes etc. Always like the way the flatbed van with the dodgy brakes almost runs over George Sweeney who without fear stays in the middle of the road too.
Flaws aside do like On The Run although not anywhere near as good as Taste of Fear.

In reality, where Cook is sprung was Hammersmith Hospital and Pinder was waiting for him in Uncle's Sisters' house (is that Aunty?) which was just a pleasant 20 minute walk away in St Peters Square.
Gene.

I wonder how many weeks after Cook's arrest in Taste Of Fear this episode is set? The thing is in TOF it was Hargreaves who got under Regan's skin, not Cook, maybe Roger Marshall revived the wrong character, what if it was Hargreaves who had been put in a psychiatric hospital, escaped & gone after Regan?

Joking or not Arth, I think that would have worked. If anyone has seen Eshley's character "Keller" in the Professionals episode "Kickback" you'll know that he could play a much more sinister character with ease. Gene.

We bumped into Cook when we visited a few years ago. Either that or it was a Dexys Midnight Runners fan

Norman Eshley was brilliant as Keller in The Pro's had a great chemistry with Lewis/Bodie in that episode too. One of the best from Mark 1 IMHO.
