Another top itinerary Gene, thanks again for putting this show together. I watched the film again last night and whilst I like it, it's not Burton's finest work and confirms my belief that Joss Ackland is a terrible actor, however it also confirms (to me anyway) that Ian McShane is and is very underrated. Looking forward to seeing the blag scene, I bet it's changed immeasurably since 1970/71. Interesting to note that across the road from the hotel is Chiswick House & Gardens. Being a Beatles fan, it would be churlish of me not to try and get some pics of where they filmed the promo film for Paperback Writer in 1966. Looking forward to this one Fully agree with you on those points Steve. Burton does at times go either ott as the "East End" villain or is more his normal (and sounding) self in the role. I forgive him because Vic is such a larger than life character and the Ronnie Kray-esque touches the role has play very well here. Also a villain like Dakin may have become or tried to become more cultured as time and status elevates for him so the 'very erudite' scene is spot on here for me. Don't generally dislike Joss Ackland but as Lowiss he's a bit crap being honest and his attempt of looking shocked/scared in the 'open you OUT!' scene is a bit shite IMHO. He was sort of similar in his role in The Gold Robbers too perhaps his style of acting was a bit one trick pony at this time. Still a bloody brilliant film and we'll love doing it on the meet.

It’s suddenly come around super sharpish, just as the outside temperatures have finally taken a nosedive. Although the fact March is here, means the spring Villainy is now in touching distance. Seven weeks to go!
