R.I.P Michael Parkinson, the legendary standard setter for chat shows, ever the professional, treated the guests with respect (despite Rod Hull and Emu's antics!) He will be missed from our screens.

As we know, Michael had many of the greatest ever names in entertaiment on his show. He also interviewed many legends from the arts and other fields. His guests must've been pleased to talk to a host with intelligence.
We will never see a Talk Show as good as his again.
RIP Michael.

He's never been bettered since he retired in my view. I agree, and he had the uncanny knack of not knowing when to let the guests say what they wanted to say, without interupting like so many modern chat show hosts do. He managed to get real stars on every week and often had a great mix of personalities with fantastic stories to tell... Jimmy Stewart, Bette Davis, Orson Wells, David Niven, Peter Sellers, Peter Cook, Dudley Moore, Paul Newman, Mohamid Ali, Lauren Bacall etc. I doubt we'll see his (and their) like again. Villain

RIP Parky, you had great skill.
He had some great stars on his show and it was done before the days of someone off stage controlling what he could ask or having to advertise their damn book or latest film.
Must re-watch some his best.
