Another strange collaboration which worked was Marc Almond and Gene Pitney with Somethings gotten hold of my heart. It was about the same time as the KLF/Tammy Wynette one.

Yes, that one seemed to come out of nowhere. I think Gene Pitney had a career boost for a few years off the back of the single.

One for you, DE, Justified and Aincent by KLF and Tammy Wynette. The most strange collaboration ever, but I strangely like it ROFL, it's certainly a weird collaboration in fact Tammy seemed to enjoy working with them as much as Cauty and Drummond did with getting her to work with them. There's a urban legend that Whitney Houston and her record company (Arista) were very enthusiastic about working with the KLF on her next album around 1989-91 after hearing KLF's JAM's offshoots single 'Whitney Joins the JAM's' which heavily sampled 'I Wanna Dance with Somebody'. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Whitney_Joins_the_JAMsWith The KLF anything/everything is a bit of a stretch of truth but they convinced Tammy Wynette to work with them and a Whitney collaboration would have been very, very interesting. As for 'Justified and Ancient' it's okay(ish) but can take it or leave it preferred their 'Pure Trance' stuff before they blew up in 1990-91 with the chart hits a bit like The Shamen pre-Boss Drum/Ebeneezer Goode for me.

Suzanne Vega's 'Left of Center' and 'Luka' are a couple I quite like from an artist I don't mind but not really a big fan of. I liked these more than the original 'Tom's Diner' but then came the DNA remix which took it to #1 in the UK.

I didn't particularly like Five Star, but I do quite like Rain or Shine. To me it has a vaguely early 70s sound, sounded a bit like something The Jackson Five might have done

Five Star, heard better/heard worse they weren't that bad compared to some of the manufactured dross which emerged in the 2000's on in hindsight.

Five Star scored big with the singles and album they had out around 86 -87 ? They seemed to go out of fashion quickly when dance records and SAW stuff dominated the charts from 88 onwards.
