Good spot.
Quite Saab-like in appearance.

Not so sure what that motor is it seems like a Alfa Sud but I dont think it is and it's not a bad effort for a early/mid '70's motor. It might be a Renault/Peugeot also has a feel of something like that from that period and definitely a unusual one from that era.

I do remember the occasional VW 411, it was an enlarged 1500 fastback and there was an estate version called the Variant. All of VWs early efforts were Beetle derivatives until they changed direction with the Golf after 1974.

They're a very rare car now, I know of a well preserved red 4 door saloon one, same body as the one glimpsed in the background of Stay Lucky eh, it attends the local shows in Bedfordshire, apparently the only "412LS saloon" left in the UK.

I know that car, have seen it on the VW show circuit - owned by a chap called David or was.. when I saw it at Stanford Hall a few years ago. I had a few beers last night and got excited searching for 411's and found this one www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C1031031 never knew they did them in 2 doors too - wonder if my wife would notice that on the drive? Funny I must have watched this episode 6 or 7 times over the years and have been a lifelong classic VW fan and had never spotted it before!

Watched this episode again on Tuesday. Thankfully from the box set hence no editing issues. I always think you pick up something new every time you watch one of the episodes and on this ocassion my mind was focused on Haskins questioning of the doctor. There was genuine respect from Haskins towards a man who had spent time serving his country at war and worked domestically for the benefit of the public. Who knows why the doctor is an alcoholic, who knows what he saw whilst serving his country. I believe Haskins understands this. Obviously, Haskins had to seek results from the interview but imagine Regan carrying out the interview instead. Horses for courses I suppose.

Yes, that shows a deeper understanding of people and circumstances that some of the lower ranks have.

Agree totally, Haskins displaying intelligence and judgement to elicit a response from a suspect, that Jack wouldn't have got.
