I watched this episode on ITV 4 last week and I think its excellent. One of the best of all four series IMO. Totally agree with you Cartman, one of the best episodes, in fact it's a pity they didnt make another episode with the same character, and perhaps the same director. Charles.

Love the location filming in the episode, it really captured the whole essence of the 70s and was very nostalgic for me. Stay Lucky Eh is another good episode from this series.
Overall I think Series 2 and 3 were probably strongest

I agree there, Poppy was one of the earliest few episodes I first saw going back to around 2000. Labbett was a good ruthless villain character although self serving and had no honour amongst thieves. Some great run down 70's era Docklands locations and a some superb action scenes along with the mud spattered car chase at Otford!

Agree with earlier comments.
Remember this episode when first shown.
The use of locations, interesting characters and earthy dialogue made for one of the best.
The lead into the title sequence is especially good - cannot recall one better across all 4 series.
Vic has the kind of cunning and shrewdness that fits well with someone who was always seeking to get the better of the police.
And everyone for that matter!

This was The Sweeney at the top of its game. Great dialogue, location filming, I love the atmosphere of a rainy London in early '75, the motors in the background (spotted two Mark 2 Cortinas, like mine!) The London Transport buses, the buildings and run down dock areas.
