Extremely sad news. Barry seemed to have been around forever. He knew almost everyone that mattered in showbiz and from what I've read he was a great bloke to have as a friend to those lucky enough to know him. A sad loss to British showbiz.

RIP Barry, British comedy's ambassador.
What I liked about him was his open-minded lack of any comedy prejudice, he treated all types of comedy the same unlike many 'old school' or modern comedians who can be hostile or dismissive towards anything they don't like or understand. Either it's funny or it's not, that's how it should be.

Didn't he work on some of Kenny Everetts stuff too? Yes he was one of the main writers. I saw a Kenny Everett show on That's TV last year & the camera showed the crew & Barry Cryer was amoungst them with a clipboard. He also wrote Everett's not very good film 'Bloodbath At The House Of Death'.

I saw a Kenny Everett show on That's TV last year & the camera showed the crew & Barry Cryer was amoungst them with a clipboard. He also wrote Everett's not very good film 'Bloodbath At The House Of Death'. I watched The Rutles last night (no seen it in years) and Barry even poped up in that as a music producers. I still keep missing cameos in that!
